You don't fancy havin Bridge then??  :D

This would look like a desperate move by Rafa to me if he did spend good money on yet another average player like Bridge.
I seriously doubt now that Rafa will get anything like that amount of money to spend after recent results!!

I read last night that we have a new CB arriving for a medical today £8/10million pounds fee. Garay? I have never seen him, but I have heard he's quite good.

Ezequiel Marcelo Garay (born October 10, 1986 in Rosario, Argentina) is an Argentine football player, who currently plays for Racing de Santander in the Spanish La Liga. His favoured positions are central defence and right back. His previous club were Newell's Old Boys of Argentina. He is notable for a good ability to score especially by spot-kicks or freekicks.

Garay earned his first full Argentina cap in a 22 August 2007 friendly against Norway (who won as hosts 2-1). Had previously been called in May 2007 by coach Alfio Basile to a series of friendlies prior to the 2007 Copa América, but injury prevented him from appearing in those matches and the official competition.

6foot 2.5inches 21 years old.

I read about the transfer/medical on Rawk last night but can't find the thread now.

Finally found the thread Link

Well, we've been linked with Garay a couple of times during the last few months, so it may be true, that Rafa is having a closer look at this fella. Don't know anything about him though. Maybe Sabre has a bit of knowledge about him?

We could do with another central defender needless to say, but if we pay that much, he must be rather good and maybe not even just meant as a backup but indeed a challenger for Agger's spot (seing as Rafa doesn't usually rotate the central defence as much as some other positions - but then again that may be caused by the lack of personel in this department up until now)?

From what I read and seen on Sky (La Liga), Garay does look very good and his stock is rising all the time so he would be a very good capture.

However it seems strange that we should be spending £8million on a defender with all of the uncertainties surrounding the club at the moment. It could prove that the finances aren't as big a problem as has been rumoured and that Rafa does have the backing of G&H. Even so I'd rather see the money spent on some decent creative player(s) to help us kill of teams instead of trying to lock them out.

Still I'll be a happier red should this rumour be true. There could be some substance to it as Welsh Wizzard ain't appeared yet confirming it!  :D

Hangeland Story
The agent of FC Copenhagen defender Brede Hangeland has refused to comment on the possibility of a move to Liverpool.

Hangeland has long been the subject of interest from Premier League clubs, with Newcastle and Liverpool scouting the centre defender over recent years.

Copenhagen have attempted to put potential bidders off by insisting they are not looking to sell any players unless a large offer is made.

However, Reds boss Rafa Benitez has made it clear that he wants cover for the centre of his defence, where Daniel Agger’s broken foot has left Liverpool down to the bare bones.

The 26-year-old Hangeland has Champions League experience from his time with current club Copenhagen, and he is a close friend of Reds defender John Arne Riise.

Hangeland’s towering presence draws comparisons with that of ageing stopper Sami Hyypia, and his agent Rune Hauge remained cautious when asked about reports of a move to Anfield.

“I have no comment to make on this matter,” he told NRK.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain believe Benitez will look to add to his wide options with the capture of unsettled Mallorca attacker Juan Arango.

Venezuelan-born Arango has a Spanish passport, and Benitez sent a scout to watch him during Mallorca’s 4-0 Copa Del Rey triumph over Osasuna

Never even heard of this geeza so I wouldn't know what to make of him really.

The bit about arango at the bottom is interesting though. I've seen a bit of him on TV and he is quite a decent player but again I don't know if he'd have the required quality to improve our attack.

I've seen quite a bit of Hangeland. Decent defender who's indeed very good in the air, but overall he's just not good enough for LFC imho. Don't know anything about Arango though, but I wouldn't want another attacker here, if he wasn't a clear improvement on what we've al ready got (bar Torres of course).

He's a good player, would be an excellent signing depending on the price.
