Having watched the Villa v Man Utd game last night (and also having seen how many points he's accumulated in my fantasy football league) I would move for Martin Laursen. Very solid at the back, great in the air and can play a bit as well. A bit older than the other targets we're looking at but he has proven EPL experience.

Just did a google search on him and it would appear that his contract expires at the end of this season  :nod

It is also quoted that talks have stalled and he (Laursen) is said to be "non-commital" at this moment in time.

He is 30 years old so I'd reckon we'd get him for £2m - £4m. Well worth it my opinion. He won't be on huge wages and you'd think we'd easily match if not beat his salary demands. We'd get a good 3-4 years for him.

Spurs are sniffing about him appartently but surely the chance to play CL football at Anfield would be a huge lure.

I can't believe that someone at Anfield hasn't flagged this guy as a possible January buy  :idea

Definitely. I've already mentioned him some time ago in another thread in the Liverpool forum called something like "suggestions for a new centreback" or something like that, yet no one responded to that. He's done extremely well in Villa's defence this season and even chipped in with about 5 goals as well. Would probably be quite cheap with his contract running out, and he has played with Agger for Denmark on a few occasions too, so should be able to fit in well (btw I'm not saying that he will oust Carra in any way  :D ).

You argue that Laursen is injury prone yet you'd like too see us for for Woodgate..... ???

Does he suit our style of play - YES - he is a similar type player to Agger but arguably better in the air.

He would be a short term solution (i.e. 2-3 years) but a good one IMO.

A 17 year old Ghanaian defender Daniel Opare is being linked with a move to Anfield. I don't know too much about him but he plays full back and did very well at the u-17 world cup last year. He's been on trial with us already apparently but there are some work permit issues are Real Madrid are sniffing around him now.

Venezualan attacking midfielder, Juan Arango, is being linked with a move from Real Mallorca. He holds a Spanish passport and doesn't have too long left on his contract so he might be a cheap option.

Why woodgate when he's also injury prone , he's much more younger and have much more quality then laursen , sorry but i don't think liverpool should sign him just my opinion thou he could come in and do a 'harry kewell' , well woodgate too  :lookaround

That article says that they have good sources which tell them that Brede Hangeland is on his way to Liverpool, but slightly worryingly it also says that he is a life long Man Utd fan  :no

For the other player mentioned 70 millioner kroner is roughly £7 million.

70million, how much is that in real money?

Roughly translated, it says:

Liverpool is, according to what NRK knows, in negotiations with russian club Zenit St. Petersburg over Martin Skrtel.

Didn't know you spoke Norwegian Saint  :wwww

Anyway you have the basic gist, the other thing to mention is that the article indicates that if we get this Skrtel, who is Slovakian, then we probably won't be going in for Brede Hangeland. Transfer fee would be in the region of £7 million for Skrtel.
