Ezequiel Marcelo Garay (born October 10, 1986 in Rosario, Argentina) is an Argentine football player, who currently plays for Liverpool in the English Premiership. His favoured positions are central defence and right back. His previous club were Newell's Old Boys of Argentina. He is notable for a good ability to score especially by spot-kicks or freekicks.

Garay earned his first full Argentina cap in a 22 August 2007 friendly against Norway (who won as hosts 2-1). Had previously been called in May 2007 by coach Alfio Basile to a series of friendlies prior to the 2007 Copa América, but injury prevented him from appearing in those matches and the official competition.

No, I think it must have been a windup Nanny. I have been researching him though and he does sound a good player. Fast, likes to go forward with the ball, good passer, a bit like Agger on speed from what I can gather.

He's a good CB, the only con I see is that I think that with Agger we have completed our share of youth in the back four. I'd preffer a CB with experience and with experience in European top clubs, but if we're not targeting those, probably Garay is a good gamble.

Besides what it has been mentioned, he has that special smell in corners to be around the ball, he touches many balls in this situations, he's not only tall but moves very well.

Spurs, United and Chelsea ready to battle for Barca starlet
Last updated at 21:14pm on 4th January 2008

Tottenham and Manchester United have joined Chelsea in the race for Barcelona wonderkid Giovani dos Santos.

All three have 'made firm, substantial offers' for the 18-year-old Mexican, with Spurs hoping to steal a march by capitalising on Juande Ramos' contacts at Barcelona.

Attacking midfielder Giovani, who has a £20million release clause but would initially cost around £10m, has been eager to stay at the Camp Nou but realises his opportunities are restricted.

Real Mallorca midfielder Juan Arango is emerging as a January transfer target for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

DiarioSport are reporting that Liverpool have had scouts watching the Venezuelan International in recent weeks and are considering making a move for the midfielder.

Arango has made 19 appearances for Mallorca so far this season, scoring 6 goals and he holds a Spanish passport which would smooth over the problem of a work permit for the South American star.

I wish.  Brilliant little player when I saw him last summer.  I'd prefer Aguero or Pato, TBH, but this kid will be something special very soon.

Just to cheer you up this morning.........

Juve move for Reds duo
Fri, 04 Jan 2008 11:06

Italian giants Juventus are preparing a move for Liverpool's on-loan ace Javier Mascherano and Mohamed Sissoko, according to reports. With Anfield officials failing to secure the Argentinian on a permanent contract there have been plenty of reports suggesting a number of clubs could be set to make a move in either January or the summer.

Barcelona and Manchester City have already been linked as have Manchester United while Italian giants Juve are the latest club to announce their interest, with Reds bosses still seemingly undecided on how to proceed.

However, Mascherano has expressed his desire to remain at Anfield, but is becoming increasingly unsettled that he is not on permanent terms. It is believed that Liverpool would have to pay around £17million to own him outright and the club have so far baulked at that fee.

Juventus are desperate to add a defensive midfielder to their ranks and it is thought they will make a tentative approach to sound out the situation during the transfer window.

The Turin giants have have also been linked with fellow Liverpool star Sissoko, who has had few opportunities to show what he can do this season.
