I think if Rafa did not have him already tied down to a deal then we would know it is just paper talk again.

I know it has nothing to do with the thread (at least part of it) but Mascherano just scored for Argentina :D , low shot from the outside of the box to the the bottom of the left pole, right between two defenders, bounced just from the pole into goal, brilliant.

I really hope rafa signs mascherano for good. Macherano is the best "anchor-man" type midfielder we can have (seeing how makalay & hamann are in the wrong side of 30).

With Macherano anchoring the midfield, gerrard and alonso can ram the opposition goal-mouth without worrying about defending...

Love Mascherano, he is top top quality.

Interesting twist on the Tevez to Utd rumours. Here's hoping the Premier league show more balls in standing up to Utd than they did over Anderson's work permit.

A friend of mine who is obsessed with Argentina says we have signed Mash on a permanent deal; this was signed months ago according to him. He told me we paid West Ham £1.7m and then Kia a further £10m.

Is this true? I ask because I have read and heard a lot of conflicting and contrasting views on whether he is on a loan or has signed permanently.

I’d be grateful if someone could set the record straight.

Your friend is talking fart.

We signed the "economic rights" to him from that c.unt Iranian for i dont know how much but it was only on an 18 month loan with the option to make that permanent afterwards. Ive read a lot of figures but it could work out to around 16Mil. Im sure we will get him signed up as Rafa wouldnt have gone through all that legal malarky to only have the lad for a few months.

On a side note apprantly in South America its common for big players to have shareholder investing in them. Its like hes their friggin race horse or something and all sales = bigger slices for them.

The sooner he is signed up properly the better.

Thank you for clarifying this, £16m isn’t a price to turn an eye to; I hope Rafa signs up him when his loan expires.  His goal for Argentina a few nights ago was top class; his celebration afterwards was more amusing than Carragher’s.

Id say if the final figure was 16Mil id be quite happy. I dont know how much we paid for the loan so you never know how these things are broken up but im sure they had settled on a final figure when he was signed up for the loan.

Interesting article about Premier League loan signings.

http://www.football.co.uk/liverpo....7.shtml

With the timing of this it makes me think that Parry is having a swipe at the impending Tevez / Man U deal. I agree with a lot of what he says (for once! :D ) and I agree that loan deals between top flight clubs should be restricted or banned.

What is really interesting though is that we are currently benefiting from such a loan deal aren't we? It would be strange for Parry to question this if we had not already secured a permanent deal for Mascherano?

Or maybe it is just a case of Parry being Parry...
