Too much time without posting here....too much celebration for the title maybe...  , well, tomorrow's AS opens with the Torres' deal done on the cover: in theory he will finally sign for 6 seasons and the transfer will be closed for 36 millions euros, it doesn't say anything about his wages at LFC. Personally, I won't believe it until i can see it since this lad has always been related with loads of clubs every summer but this time seems to be going to happen. Tomorrow it all will be finished I hope, I think AS is a trust-worthy paper except for when it comes to Real Madrid (if you believe all the rumours they publish Real Madrid will have 60 players next season).

So Torres is near enough a red and about time to, we've been monitoring him since Rafa arrived really and finally we have him (hopefully). Let's not get to carried away with ourselves though, Torres is not going to be the final piece in our jigsaw, we still need a few areas strenghtened, if not 1st team regulars then certainly squad players, because our squad is falling apart this summer. On the outlist could include around 10-15 players, Dudek, Carson, Fowler, Zenden, Gonzalez, Bellamy, Ciise, Pongolle, Crouch (possibly, but very much doubt it), Garcia, Le Tallec and Paletta as well as others, so a few more squad players have got to be brought in.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Well as soon as he signs that  contract and puts on the red liverpool shirt i will fully back him as a liverpool player and wish him the best of luck to him at our truely wonderful club. He is still young and i know he might take a while to adapt to the english game(hopefully he proves me wrong), but i will give him the patience he deserves, shall we all.

however(while still not officially a liverpool player) I feel that to start building  the "desired" team, torres is definately not the final piece of the puzzle, nor should he have ever been a player to be targeted as to fixing any onfield technical problems we have. I am not judging his class and quality, he might not be a world class striker YET in "M"Y eyes, but whilst being in our team he is surely on his way to becoming one.

My point here is that, we need world class player NOW. Dont get me wrong , i like the guy, Im kind of excited of what he can become at our club, Though I am still kind of suprised that he MIGHT be our biggest signing of the summer.

Torres to complete Liverpool move

Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres is poised to fly into Liverpool to undergo a medical on Tuesday before completing a £26.5m switch to Anfield.

Torres, 23, could even be paraded as a Liverpool player as early as Wednesday after completing formalities.

Liverpool have agreed a club record deal with Atletico and BBC Sport understands the Spain striker will sign a six-year contract.

The Reds will then target Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze.

Villarreal's Diego Forlan has been lined up to replace the departing Torres in a £14.2m deal, while the Anfield club have recouped some of their outlay by agreeing to sell Luis Garcia to Atletico for £4.5m.

Once the Torres deal is done, Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will increase his efforts to seal a shock deal for 29-year-old Argentine Heinze.

It may prove complicated, however, with fierce rivals Liverpool and United notoriously reluctant to sell players to each other.

But it is understood the Merseysiders have been given enough encouragement from Heinze's camp to pursue their interest.

I for one am excited about Torres, even for £26.5m

Liverpool officials are playing their cards close to their chest on the Torres deal, a move that shatters their previous club record, the £14m paid to Auxerre for Djibril Cisse three seasons ago.

But it now appears only the formalities remain after Torres cut short his holiday to return to Madrid to prepare to say an emotional farewell to Atletico's fans.

Spanish international Garcia is expected to sign for Atletico on Tuesday, although that deal is independent of the Torres move.

Atletico are reluctant to sell but Torres is keen to link up with Benitez.

Benitez wanted to land Torres to provide a spearhead for an assault on the title - and also allow Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks to demonstrate their own financial commitment to his plans.

Torres has been consistently linked with a move to England, particularly with Arsenal and Chelsea, but Liverpool will now win the race.

He will join fellow countrymen Pepe Reina and Xabi Alonso, as well as boss Benitez, at Anfield.

Gil Marin, Atletico's major shareholder insisted that Torres is not irreplaceable.

"Nobody is indispensable. No player by himself, very good though he is, is able to make a team achieve its aims," Gil Marin said on Punto Radio.

"We have spoken to him and told him we would like him to stay. It is normal that he has doubts. It is normal that the offers and everything surrounding them has made him think."

Torres scored 14 league goals in 36 starts last season as Atletico finished seventh in La Liga.

The Spain international's Atletico contract runs until 2009.

Torres came up though the youth ranks at Atletico and has been their leading scorer in each of the last five seasons.

Ok so i think the cynycism needs to stop now. We are going to be signing one of the best young talented strikers in Spain and now is the time to look ahead to next season.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
