It does look as if Torres is joining wheter or not we have to wait until the 10th of July for it to be confirmed. So can you lot stop having a go at the lad and get behind him. How is he expected to repay the faith shown in him by Rafa if the majoirty of the fans boo him. Being a Liverpool fan is all about getting behind our players, like we did with Crouch, the rest of the nation thought he was a laughing stock but we got behind him and in the end he showed us his quality. So lets all be supportive of Torres, if it doesn't work then fair enough, it was a waste, but give him a go 1st for crying out loud.

BTW thanks Manhattan for the news on Yossi, 4.5 million is a bit to much for him, I think.

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Who ever said boo him? Who have we ever booed without giving a chance?

We will get behind him, just like every other signing we've made.

We can critique his abilities and suggest whether we think he is suitable for us or not but once he's signed, it makes not a blind bit of difference - we get behind every player.

It hasn't even been confirmed that we've signed him yet!

I'm aware of the situation about whether Torres is a Liverpool player or not and I also know nobody has said boo him, but the majority of people seem to have already made their mind up with him which isn't fair on the lad. We need to get behind him now to show the kind of club he will be joining, if he was to discover certain members of our great fans didn't want him then he wouldn't join at all.

People have different opinions as to whether he would be the  right player for us  - it happens with every player.

That's not unfair, it's just an analysis of the player.

I really don't think he will be reading this thread and basing his decision to join or not on what we write.

I know he won't be reading this and I know every fan is entitled to their opinion I just wanted to make the point that we at Liverpool are loyal to our players, even though Torres isn't yet, I think now we do have to get behind him and will him to succeed at Liverpool. Also people who have a bad prejudgement of players don't really acknowledge the good things they do for the side. My personal example of this is Dirk Kuyt, I admit it I never wanted us to sign him, the same was with Morientes believe it or not, but with Kuyt I don't really give him enough credit for his work rate all I seem to spot is the fact he can't control a ball. So I suppose in a way I may have contradicted myself by moaning you lot aren't behind Torres when I wasn't behind Kuyt. But hey my main point was lets support Torres and give him a go rather than complain he isn't the right player for us, because you don't seem to have come up with any suggestions on who would be the right player.

Since when have we booed players before giving them a chance?

I haven't come up with suggestions on other players?

Had you read the numerous threads that have explored every possible option we may or may not have up front, you may not be accusing me of not suggesting other players.

Like I said we may not boo players because that's what Liverpool is all about, I'm just saying as fans we need to see him in a Liverpool shirt before making up our minds on him which by the looks of things many have.

As for who people have put forward, the Tevez/Bent/Owen and others what makes them the answer?

I really don't get your point, we have debated the ins and outs of each of those players and many more, that is not to say they are all correct - it's just a matter of personal opinion - some feel Torres is not the player we need, others disagree. I don't see how that leads you to believe we wouldn't get behind Torres, we get behind every player, even if Owen re-signed I'd get behind him.

My point is, it is vital Torres gets every Liverpool fans whole hearted support which I know he will, but I also know if it doesn't click into place immidieately people, including certain Liverpool fans will be on his back, which is where I think he will unfairly treated. We have to give him time and if the odd fans do turn on him, it will only bring him down even more. So no more complaining, lets look on the bright side of everything, even if we buy Titus Bramble :D .

To be blunt I don't think the odd fan turning on him after only a short while will make a blind bit of difference, people were and still are not convinced by Crouch but that didn't stop him from persevering and proving certian people wrong. No matter how well he plays, there will always be detractors.

I think Torres will fit right in in the Prem. He's quick, strong and an excellent finisher. And going by the Atletico Website which I have as my homepage, there is no mention of him whatsoever which suggests that they're resigned to losing him. Still, 27 million ought to come in handy! And Luis Garcia is no slouch!

Pacheco, one of the pearls of the youth team, 'flees' to Liverpool

The never ending story. England has set it's sights yet another one of the emerging figures in the blaugrana youth setup and, this time, they've managed to pry it away from Barça. In this occasion, the 'robbery' has been committed by Liverpool, who have taken Daniel Pacheco with them, central forward of the U-16 team.

The young player, who, despite having just turned 16 this past January, has already been used regularly for Alex Garcia for the U-18A, has decided to accept the 'Reds' offer to play in England for the next 3 seasons. Although Barça has tried to keep the player under it's wing, the agreement between the English club and the player is irreversible.

Garcia Pimienta, his manager at the U-16A's this season, considers that he is "a big loss for the club because we're talking about a striker with lots of quality and a goalscorer. He's been our top goalscorer, reaching almost 30 goals and he's already played with the U-18A's, so i don't think this is a sporting issue, because he is highly valued at the club". The coach considers that "along with Thiago Alcantara and Gai Assulin he is one of the U-16 players with best prospects that we have, but there is nothing we can do now. It all happen very fast".

Dani Pacheco arrived in Barcelona from his native Malaga and has spent the last four years at the club. Now, like Cesc, Pique or Fran Merida before him, he's gone to England.
