The fernando torres thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby SpanishEyes » Fri Jun 29, 2007 3:01 pm

They have just said on the TV in Spain. It seems that the agreement between the At. Madrid and Liverpool is imminent. They would sell to Torres for 32 million (Euros) more Luis Garcia. The truth, I feel sadness because Torres goes away, but here everybody knows that it is going to be the best thing for his future. And at the same time, it makes me happy because is the Liverpool who finally takes him. :)

It looks like in Spain, its all done and dusted.

And Kukilon, we don't have to mark your words because they are already written down here. That means they are marked, or recorded if you like. What would be the point of marking them again. Or are you giving us lines?
Still, very ominous of you.

The only concern i have about all this is the price we end up paying, if as reported Garcia is to be part of the deal then i would expect us to pay no more than 20 million cash for him.

I'm not to bothered about Garcia going to be honest, apart from the odd wonder goal he really didn't do it for me and i have a feeling that Yossi will be brought in to replace him if he goes, and as with any new signing i will give him time.

I just dont like the thought of us being taken for mugs, if we can use Garcia to bring the price down considerably then fair enough, if not then keep Garcia and pay the full amount in cash

Ive heared that we will pay althletico madrid upto 27 million for Torres but not all in cash. We will give them 10 million when the player signs. Althletico madrid price Garcia at 7 million. So that equals to 17 million. Another 10 million COULD be paid depending on How long he stays. How many times he plays and other conditions

If Torres turns out anything like Henry we'll be laughing.

Doesn't Voronin play a kind of Luis Garcia role? I think I understand his signing now...

Berbatov has scored 23 goals overall for Tottenham last season. Kuyt only had 14 overall. Berbatov also had a great amount of assists and overall had a fantastic season.

If the report you are paying £27 million and parting with Luis is true i think you'll be paying way over the odds, atleast £10 million over maybe.

But if the gamble pays off it's only money hey :;):  Also it might help you sign the top top players you need to get back to where you once were. I don't say that in a patronising way, just that you're just lacking alittle something to be Champions at the moment.

You have a strong defence and cracking midfield, but upfront seems to have been abit of a headache for Rafa. A stronger squad and abit more consistency and i think you'll finally bring the silverware home :)

Well, so far it's only speculation in my eyes.

Only quotes so far has been from Athletico officials that says no agreement has been made and no negotiations have been held.

Only quote from the Liverpool camp is when Rafa said Torres is one player we've been looking at.

The rest is as real as santa.
Not seen anything to suggest an agreement has been made.
