As much as I hate to admit it, Rooney is much better finisher than Torres is, St Mick. Torres might be better getting past defences, but what's the point in dribling one, leaving the other behind by pace, if you have the goalie on front and you shoot to his hands?

He hesitates inside the box, and that's something, it's tough to learn to avoid. You can train finishing in training sessions, but you can't train that natural killing ability Owen or Fowler have/had.

I still hear that Rooney is overpriced and overrated - same stuff with Torres. Yet both are great players, and United just won the league.

If Torres helps us win the league, or another Champions League, he'll be worth every penny. And at 23 he could serve us for four great years, and we could sell him for £30m if he's a success. This is not like paying £30m for Shevchenko knowing he'll be worth just £5m in two years at 32.

14 goals in 36 games in the Spanish league isn't exacty prolific.

Morientes was great in Spain but a disaster here. If Henry is 16m then 27m for him seems terrible business.  Get Owen for 9 and hold onto the other 18m for other players.

Wouldn't miss Garcia though - gives the ball away non stop.

Prices are difficult to guage, Henry for £16million sounds crazy cheap compared to £25 mill for Torres but Henry could have bought his contract out in a years time and he has given his best years to the Gooners...Torres on the other hand is only 23yrs of age and signed up until 2009 I think, in terms of long term investment and potential for profit Torres is the more sound finacial deal....I know it's all relative but we really do have to wait and see. I thought Drogba for £24mill 3 seasons ago was a joke but look at him now.
I keep on about it but every transfer is a gamble, and while I agree £25mill is a big gamble it might still prove to be a gamble that pays off.

That is not a fiar comparison, as Villa plays for a much better side than Torres. Bloody hell people the lad hasn't even signed and some people are slagging him off. I think he will be very good in the Prem as he looked strong and quick on the youtube clip I saw, and strength is vital for the prem.
And I don't buy into this concept that he will take a long time to adapt, Drogba didn't take long to adapt for Chelsea so why should Torres take any longer.

Torres will cost us 27m, thats what Athletico are willing to accept. I'll be happy with us signing him, as long as he does what we are paying for him. If he scores then I can't complain, if he's another Morientes it's another waste of money, although I doubt he will be. Torres will be a hit at Anfield.

3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

It looks like bellamy is on his way out and he was are only striker with abit of pace, and with looking at a few of your comments about Torres having pace and like to take players on I think he sounds like a good buy, and I will be looking forward to seeing him link up with Kuyt who I think is gonna be a great player next season.

I am just hopeful that because we sign Torres that won't be it, hopefully some wingers will follow.

I just hope Torres is going to be a player who has us on the end of our seats everytime he has the ball.

I may be in a minority with this, but I'd rather us sell Kuyt ahead of any other player, I don't think he is good enough for one simple reason, the man just can't control a ball, it just bounces off him. I think Crouch and Torres will be our best pairing. Crouch was brilliant last year when he was given the chance--yes Crouch may miss many chances (the Blackburn game on Boxing Day comes to mind) but at least he's getting into the space for the chances unlike the rest of them. I don't think Kuyt will be any better next year than he was this time round.

I think this guy can do the job. Sabre you don't rate him and you do have the knowlage of the spanish game but i have seen this guy quite a lot since we get almost as many live Spanish games over here then we do the Prem and along with Milto i think he is the best value for money. I don't think his hart was quit in it this year at his club since he missed out on moving last year (Just like Henry) but i think he will be raring to go this time and will make a big inpact.
