May have been before your time but can't you see that this man is still a legend, he cam back a better player than when he went, was a good choice bringing him back

The whole attack needs rebuilding if you ask me.

Ok Crouch has his moments, but there's nothing quite so soul destroying as watching him become the focal point of a counter-attack and then promptly ending up in a heap with his ankles behind his head.

Bellamy is Owen with no head.

Kuyt is a mirror universe version of Denis Bergkamp: a grafter, but completely bereft of guile, witts or any notion of a 'football brain'.

We beat the Chavs with a cleverly worked free-kick which a defender scored, Wednesday night with a set-piece. But not since Barca away have I seen attacking play that carves apart a class side (although it must be said their defence let us play)

Most of the time, especially the other night, the attacks break down ten yards ahead of the centre circle. LFC needs a wholesale head transplant.

I totally agree with your post...I think owen should come back and we have to sell crouch and bellamy...kuyt I think is a hard working striker but he needs another good striker by his side...he shouldn't be the only striker playing as it was in the final...

Kuyt is one of the least technical players I have seen come out of Holland in recent years. Not every dutch player is Dennis Bergkamp but usually the ones who transfer to other leagues for big fees are technically very very sound. Kuyt is the total opposite to everything u associate with the wonders of dutch football. His very hard working, never stops running but what exactly else does he bring to the table. I would run all day for Liverpool!!

IF....................and only IF Owen is available for around 10 mill and he is willing to come back and we are willing to buy him (whatever your personal feelings towards his motives for leaving originally) then it is an absolute no brainer....................Darren Bent 10 mill, Defoe 10-12 mill.................think about it?? It makes perfect financial and football sense

it's a fair point when you compare him to someone like van persie. van persie is technically brilliant and always offers a goal threat, despite the fact that he's practically a converted winger.

I am not disputing Kuyt's goal scoring record in Holland. However it doesnt hide the fact for the money we paid his been disappointing. Berbatov was around the same price and his far better.

Even if u watch someone like Hunterlaar who scores more than kuyt you see a difference in ability.

Benitez backed for transfer spree
Liverpool co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have vowed to back boss Rafa Benitez in the summer transfer market.
And American Gillett has not discounted a move for former Reds striker Michael Owen, whose future at Newcastle has been the topic of intense speculation.

"He is a great player but it is down to Rafa's recommendation, not us," Gillett said of the England international.

In an effort to stave off interested parties, new Magpies boss Sam Allardyce met Owen for the first time this week.

Allardyce interrupted his holiday to talk to the 27-year-old in the build-up to the England B international against Albania and outline his ambitions for the St James' Park outfit.

Owen has spent 10 months on the sidelines fighting his way back to full fitness and managed to play in his club's last three games of a difficult season.

But there are reports of a get-out clause in his contract and speculation that he could be available for as little as £9m.

Owen moved to Tyneside in a £17m deal from Real Madrid in August 2005, but has managed only 14 appearances to date following knee and metatarsal injuries, although he has scored seven goals in his first 10 starts.

"Rafa's feeling is we need more depth because of the rigours of the schedule to be competitive.

as he said its up to rafa... and they will back rafa all the way...

bet i will get shot down for this but i feel he is past his best years and we would only get a shadow of what he was like.
there are better players out there that we can now buy with the money that is beeing put into our club.

i think for £9million if we only get 20 goals a season for 3 seasons its money well spent. I think with his 20 goals we could win the league. get him back Rafa!

why spend 9m. we can get a better player now we have the money, a player that could get us 25+ goals.
