Michael owen - We need him and he needs us

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

He has already proved he is not a Liverpool fan, yet I would not mind having him back. We let him go for 8 mil, he can come back for 9 (if we include what we got for selling Nuñez, that would mean we made actually a slight profit I believe). He knows most of the team and has played with them (Riise, Carragher, Hyppia, Gerrard, Finnan, Kewell, Crouch (England?)). He has an incredible strike rate, is prven in England and if he can stay fit, is a very effective weapon to have with us.

I agree with the Owen as a person and Owen as a player perspectives. I base my opinion on  purely football ability he is a player who knows where the net is and thats what we are missing, so for those reasons i would have him back.

There are many players who i cant stand Drogba, hate him with a passion but if we had a chance to sign him would i say no, a (younger) Gary Neville is another, cant stand the bloke but again if we needed a quality RB and we signed him, no problem. The list goes on Ronaldo, Robben

I only want the best for LIVERPOOL FC and thats why i can see past my personal feelings towards any player who signs for us, and take them for their ability and what they would bring to the team

Owen was never considered a "scouser" by many Liverpool fans when he was here. He was loved but there was always a feeling he wasn't "one of us" like Robbie was. I am just wondering whether this has a influence on people's decisions. So please put a) whether you would have him back, b) do you think Rafa would get him back and c) where are you from.

a)No
b)No
c)Birkenhead

Well Red wrote:how anyone can want Owen is beyond me.

this is a player who, despite being adored by the Kopites and having the team built around him, quit Anfield because according to him we weren't good enough to compete for the big trophies, and who is now prepared to ditch Newcastle and all the fans there (15,000 turned up on the day he signed to welcome him to the club) after only a handful of games because of a sneaky contractual clause. He has shown no loyalty and not an ounce of respect to anyone other than his bank manager. Owen disgusts me - all that's left now is for him to sign his soul away to the Mancs or Chavs.

I'd rather Carra was put up front for us in next season's campaign, finish the season without a goal to his name, but be able to see him putting in 100% effort week-in-week-out for the team and to win the loyal fans over with commitment and passion. Owen will never be remotely like Jamie because he doesn't see himself as a servant of the club - and therefore he's not good enough for Liverpool.

If Carragher was put in front of goal and scored only one goal even if he gave 100% all season, EVERYONE would be saying to drop him off the team. This is why so many people slag Crouch, Bellamy and Kuyt. They always give 100%, yet they are not prolific. I'd much rather have a hated Owen scoring 20 goals per season.

F*ck him, the mardy little sh*t.

I wouldn't have him back if he paid us. The tw*t will spend most of the rest of his career out injured anyway. :no

Robbie didnt leave because he had a choice, he left because Houillier forced him out. Owen had a choice and decided that Real Madrid were a bigger club. The fact that signing Owen would be like signing another Harry Kewell just wouldnt be worth the cash, quality players yes but they are known as sicknotes for a reason !
