crapping my pants about this one.

I just hope everyone is aware of Chelsea's tendency to score in the final minutes and our tendency to concede a goal in the last couple of minutes against teams like Man U and Cheslea.

I would be gutted if they scored in the final minutes, especially if we had plenty of chancs beforehand.

All too often, teams make two mistakes:

1- Scoring two or three goals then shutting down as if the job is done. I on the other hand tend to think that when a team has conceded a few goals, it's best to attack them even more. If they believe your foot is off the pedal, they have to motivation to attack you.

2- Thinking that a match ends after 85 minutes. You play until the final whistle and not one moment before. Take it to the opponents corner and stay there. One lapse of concentration and you are fooked.

If we can score "2 or 3" at Chelsea ill be very happy indeed.

Too true.
1. Like it's always been said the best defense is to attack.
2. I hate teams who score in the final few minutes when they are our opposite, but will admire the fighting spirit when our team displays it.
Never relax when you are leading before the final whistle. Don't give any chance to the opponent.
And never give up when you are losing by the final whistle. There's still chance for us as long as we are still fighting.

How typical is it that we have been drawn against the blues for the next champo league match? They are certainly strong in the league but I doubt theyl be able to compete with us in Europe. They will be suffering the stresses of trying to keep up with manure in the league-so we have a chance!!! What does everyone think the line up will be?

Think crouchie has a chance due to his current form and dedication. What does everyone reckon? Post all match predictions and poss line ups here!!!

Uefa's president, Michel Platini, has sparked disquiet among broadcasters by insisting that on-pitch presentation ceremonies for the European Cup and Uefa Cup be abandoned and replaced by the traditional system of handing over silverware in the stands.

Television executives are unhappy with the move, believing there was nothing wrong with a procedure that provided footage of elated team-mates gathered together on a raised dais backed by ticker-tape. Platini has ignored their concerns, however, as he attempts to stamp his authority on the organisation.

As a player Platini received the European Cup and the European Championship trophy from dignitaries seated in the directors' box, and traditionalists will be delighted that he is reinstating the system as he prepares to hand the trophies over as Uefa president.

Scottish trophies are already handed over from the directors' box above the tunnel at Hampden Park so there is no logistical headache for the Uefa Cup final, but Athens' Olympic Stadium, venue for this season's Champions League final, is another matter, and significant work will be required to convert the stands.

Wembley will steal a march on both venues on May 19 when the FA Cup is handed over to the winning captain from the new Royal Box, reached via a flight of 107 steps - 68 more than at the old stadium - which at one point takes the players out of view."

i guess it'll be a very tight game at their sh*thole, and pretty much the same at anfield. would be very suprised if there aggregate score was higher than 2-1 (to us of course!)
gerrard will defo start on the right both legs, with momo and xabi in the centre. my line up for the first leg would be:

reina

finnan carra agger arbeloa

gerrard momo xabi riise

kuyt crouch

pretty defensive i know, but imo we'll just hope not to concede at theirs, and finish them off with the kop behind us :buttrock

Definately.

In some games we look as though we can score a hatful, in others we struggle to create or score a goal. Against decent opposition I think we'll find it hard to break down a very good Chelsea unit. I just hope we get a bit of luck, a pen or something, just something. IMO one goal isnt a secure bet, I reckon we need two at the Bridge and thats a tall ask.

The Chelsea fans seem happy playing the first leg at the Bridge, because they know if they keep a clean sheet their they've only got to score one at our place.

BTW Stu, what formation would you go for in the first leg, me I'd be inclined to go 4-5-1 with Crouch leading the attack. Simple reason being we look no more dangerous at times playing two upfront, whoever the partnership is.

But I would possibly bring Bellamy on early in the second half depending the situation. If Chelsea are pushing us for a goal he'd be the man to bring on. To find space and counter it.

I'd personally play Bellamy and Crouch upfront, thereby giving us pace on the counter, aswell as a good aerial threat.

If they sit deep (highly unlikey though that is), Crouch is the man to lead the attack.

If they keep a high defensive line (highly likely), then Bellamy can exploit this with his pace. (Assuming he's fit.)

The Bellamy-Crouch partnership gives Sh*tski the headache.
