Our performances are world class, our finishing is poor at best. Lets spend the next few days concentrating on putting the ball in the back of the net in training, lets get the last part of our game right THIS season so we can win our 19th next season.

100% agree! Especially now when we need more wins other than  draws or anything else to help us go further up on this season's Premiership Table (I still think we may have hope for the the 2nd place) and to bring us get through the next rounds for UEFA ChampionS League and hopefully to win the Final. We need more goals!
And if this is such a topic that you think has been dismissed, I guess that's probably because there is already a thread focused on discussing about our farwards. Right?

Why are you all going on about utd's demise. They are top of prem. Lets not become like them and the bitters and delight in downfalls. We create our own history and success and its why me and other lfc supporters and the club are envied the world over. We show respect to others.

As for last night, as a team we were great. No one has put barca to the sword like that in a long time. We created a bucketload of chances and not for luck could have embarrassed the european champions.

Forget what the press say but that tie over both legs ranks higher than anything Lfc or the scumbags have ever achieved in europe. Forget their juve semi final and our juve demolition. This was supposed to be the greatest barca team EVER!

Red men roar on in europe bring on roma, psv or madrid if they get thru and watch us go to athens.

As for the strikers, we do need to improve them but bellamy is starting to game big game intelligence and for that he should never go in the summer. He terrified puyol and marques. Made thuram look like the old man that he is.

Manhattan offered to sell his soul to Satan if we won another Champions League.

But Satan didn't think he was getting his money's worth, so he said no.

We were excellent without the ball i.e. closing down but with the ball we were terrible. We can't string a few passes together against a top team. The chances we created in the first half were from direct football. Carragher was outstanding but Alonso& SG were poor. I can't remember Sissoko passing the ball to somebody in a red shirt (is he Garcia in disguise?)

Excellent result, great work effort but poor quality with the ball. We have no forwards good enough to play for LFC. Pennant isn't good enough for my local team.

I hope we get Roma, AC Milan or PSV (in the unlikely event they beat Arsenal). I'd prefer to avoid an English team.

Finnan is as good as Dennis Irwin was (thats a great compliment as Irwin was top class). If you don't rate Finnan then the rest isn't worth discussing.

I don't  see how Manchester United will ever reach the respect Liverpool FC has achieved in Europe. Their football might be effective but attractive? :censored:.

If this guy is here it's because of envy and attempting to diminish our tryumph. Manchester United have never won in the Nou Camp, in fact I remember ridiculous spankings of 4-0 there in the nineties. But watching Liverpool dominating Barcelona also in Anfield has been too much for his liking, and here he is, trying to talk about his puny team who'll never have the respect LFC has.

I've read recently that the EPL has the biggest ratio of foreign players in the top leagues. More english players should play in the top teams, because let's face it, if a vulgar player like Carrick makes it to the english squad, something is defo wrong in the english football, a football that has always provoked me the outmost respect in the last 25 years -since I can remember-

Go to your forum and eat your envy. When you calm down come back and discuss we'll discuss all the footie you want. This thread is to celebrate yet another victory of LFC in Europe, I stopped counting those nights a lot of years ago, so please -to all the Mancs- stop saying LFC is lucky if you don't want to sound ridiculous.

I must say thank you to the Mancs though. Pretty much of the confidence that Barcelona had, was based on the fact it was seen as "simple" and "easy" to go to stadiums like old trafford and get a win. Barcelona and Madrid has done so more than once so they just thought "Bah, it will be the same shít in Anfield". Great mistake. :) You shouldn't treat LFC as just another team, LFC has more CL than Barcelona and Manchester all together. It says it all really.

but i reckon by the time we pop our clogs you'll not be wanting to compare trophies, no?

Funny, I have to admit.

Well it was a great night ...shame it wasn't topped off with a win.

Crowd fantastic again...Tried to play my part in the Centenary with my big flag from Istanbul but the head steward forced me to stop "on orders from the control box" he said.

First half terrific ,should have bagged 2 if not 3 but was more than pleased with the performance.
2nd half they came into it more but I was still confident of keeping a clean sheet until Bellamy was replaced by Pennant(always scares the pants off me).

Flash backs to 1989 for the last 15 minutes but by the time the board went up, showing 3 mins, we had regained all composure and the match was ours.

Just as a side issue to the game,I watched the highlights on ITV late on last night and I thought Tyldsleys commentary was so anti LFC progressing you would have thought he was a manc fan, bluenose or even a Barca bumbandit. If the whole game was like that I'm sure some cans of beer were thrown at the T.V's on occassion.

It's hard to pick holes in such a good performance, but I do sort of understand some of the criticism. We simply MUST go out and buy a top, top goalscorer. Negatives done.

That was a very good performance, especially in the first half when we essentially made Barca look like a pub team at times. How we had to hang on and how we actually lost on the night is one of those things you just have to scratch your head about and that's about it really. We really ought to have had things wrapped up after half an hour. John Arne Riise in particularly will probably still be thinking "how have I not scored at least 2 there?"

When he hit the bar he was just unlucky, when he was denied on the line by (the excellent) Puyol that was down to superb reading of the game by the opposition... I was getting worried at that point, I got nigh on hysterical when Momo hit the bar. I just began to doubt we were going to score, and we saw what happened on Saturday. To be fair last night was a carbon copy, we just had more than one goal to play with on this occasion.

We did take them to pieces but they got a foothold in the second half. In my view, this was because the strikers were ten yards too deep and the space between them and the midfield was huge. The ball kept coming back at us. We had our warning when the largely anonymous Ronaldinho hit the post after a great run. We were under a fair bit of pressure but the sensational (and MOM by a million miles) Carragher was keeping them at bay. In fact, as a unit in defence we were superb. My mind is finally made up about Agger - three high pressure games in 2 weeks and he's been class in all of them. A gem. Arbeloa looks promising as well. Josemi made a good start as well, so proceed with caution, but this guy looks class.

Did anyone else notice, by the way, what an utter bell the referee was? Booking both Arbeloa and Sissoko in quick succession for nothing tackles, letting Deco make decisions for him, warning us for time wasting after 6 minutes. Knob.

We were ultimately hanging on but that performance would beat most teams in Europe. We can be very proud of ourselves after that last night. If we play like that we'll give ourselves a very, very good chance of beating anyone and going all the way, mainly because despite all of our flaws, we're a still a million miles better than the side which won the trophy in 2005. But we MUST start scoring goals.
