Pongolle doesnt want to come back - Enjoys spain

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby puroresu » Wed Dec 06, 2006 1:51 pm

Florent Sinama-Pongolle insists his Liverpool career is over and he has no desire to return to Anfield at the end of the season.

The French youngster is currently on loan at Recreativo Huelva and has impressed in La Liga, scoring five goals to date.

Sinama-Pongolle was shipped out of Liverpool after the signings of Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy, and his long-term prospects under Rafa Benitez look increasingly small.

Now the forward may have firmly closed the door on any future with The Reds by insisting he has no desire to return to the Premiership.

"No, I don't see myself at Liverpool next year, it is over," Sinama-Pongolle told RMC.

"I have been important for them, helping them to win cups, scoring in the Champions League and FA Cup.

"But I feel very good in Spain. The league is more technical, less direct, and I have scored five goals.

"I want to do more than the club's best scorer record of 10 goals."

Whats wrong with him telling people how he sees it, he hasnt slagged us off. Fair play to him I say, he never really got a look in, and I wouldnt begrudge him saying that.

He stats at Blackburn wasnt so good but his stats this season are actually 6 games 5 goals. He never started all those games either. U cant argue with that record so far.

In contrast Bellamy has 14 games and 4 goals.

Dont be so quick to shoot him down when infact his playing very well at his new club in his favoured position. Striker!!!

He hasnt slated the manager or the club.  His just telling it how it is.  He knows he cannot continue to not play on a regular basis and feels Liverpool isnt the place for him to further his career.  What is so wrong in saying that?

when pongo ends the season with more than 10 goals in the league then i will stand up and notice.

pongo isnt a goalscorer, plain and simple.

and you know this because you have seen him play as a striker on a regular basis?

I think his very talented and im sure he would love to play for Liverpool but knows that wont happen.  I'm also not surprised he enjoys Spain as it is more technical and a small technical player like himself would always prefer the less direct style of football.

Is he not?

He's a very good second striker, he does the correct runs, and he scores. I wouldn't play him in the left back.

good luck to him.

He never got a chance for LFC for it is in the best interest of his career to get as much football as possible.

On FSP, he does have very good skill on the ball but he's never scored enough goals. He did well on loan at Blackburn, playing eight straight games, but only scored one goal.

Will he want to come back to be a 4th choice at a big club, or stay in a great country, playing regularly and scoring goals in a top league? Either decision would have its own merits, but it's hard for any player to accept being 4th choice.

Is he improving? Almost certainly. He'll be learning from this experience. He'll return a better player, but not to the point where he can be better than 4th choice.

Shame..... I for one, have always rated him as a player..... Can't really blame him for not wanting to come back and from what was posted, I can't really see anything wrong with what he said... Any footballer with pride would want to play on a regular basis and he's getting that chance now...

Why on earth would he want to come back and be 4th choice for us.... This way he gets games on a regular basis, a chance to improve himself as a footballer and increase his market value if he does well.... May not work out if he flops but at least, the lad has the nuts to give it a go instead of what the idiot Diao is doing.....

He's never given us any stick or problems when he was with us and always gave a 100% everytime he was on the field.
For that, he has my respect.

Flo, it was a pity we never got to see you at your fully matured best but thanks for the effort everytime you donned the red....
Good luck lad, and hope to see you do well in the near future...

Well said    :nod

Also he may not have scored many goals with us but he did score some important ones .

Good luck to the lad , don't know why some are getting so bothered by his admission that he see's his LFC career as being over , christ sake , would some prefer he did a Diao ? (sit in the reserves,do fk all, say fk all and just suck the money   :eyebrow  )
