toothache is officially worse than being kicked in the balls.

Never had a toothache and never had fillings, I don't a tooth out of place or any stains, I'm like a walking commercial, however I hate it when the dentist rubs his gloves all over your teeth, it leaves a funny after taste like rubber...rubber gloves even.

there was a fella opposite me in a ward once who had to have a tracheotomy in order for his tooth abcess to be safely removed. he couldnt even open his mouth further than getting a straw in... that really f***ed my head up. he was told in no uncertain terms that the complications of not getting treatment for his condition could even have been fatal, should the abcess burst and enter his blood stream....

I'm like you red. I would suffer for days and days with tooth ache and then it gets to the point that I have to go to the dentist. I have had quite a few problems with my teeth, due to the fact that I still have quite a few baby teeth (and I'm 37). I went to get one out a few years ago and then a few days later another one grew back in its place. My dentist was  amazed
But I know whats its like to have toothache and an abcess. Just have one recently. I got it under my lower front teeth and was in real pain until it burst. My dentist gave me anitbiotics and a mouth wash and told me to come back when it burst, with I did do. But he said as long as I keep smoking the trouble will continue. He said that because I smoke, its making my lower jaw crumble and thats leaving room for the abcess to keep returning.
Because of this I go to the Dentist every 3 three months so he can keep an eye on it. The abcess had not returned so I'm hoping it won't, but I know it will sometime.

i think id better listen to both your advice and my own nagging conscience on this: namely visit the dentist regularly. and there'd be no problems.

all this 'apprehension' started when i was a lad and the gas pipe they used to molest you with came out of its holder. to this day i can still smell that heady whiff of N2O or whatever it was they used back in the seventies/eighties. a bit like sniffing 'Victory Vs' for want of a better comparison. anyway the bit that terrorised me was where they started digging me gob up before the anaesthetic had fully kicked in and there were all these heads floating round and round in a macabre dance above me and i could feel a strong tugging pressure at my mouth. the very thought of being 'put under' terrifies me still. but the fear of not coming round again is perhaps the real root of my dental phobia.

My younger brother is the same. As children, the dentist we used was a real butcher and my bro has been terrifed of the dentist ever since. He used to have to take a valium going to bed then one before he went to the dentist, just to calm him. Then he stoped going all together. But I changed dentist and they are very good. I told him about them and he goes to them now and he dont mind it at all now. But your right, being scared of the dentist probably comes from something that happened to you as a child (like you and the gas) but I would rather go, than have a mouth full of rotten teeth and really bad breath. I really would'nt worry about them putting you under. They would'nt be allowed to use the gas if it was'nt safe for them to use. The gas is the only reason I go. Without it, I would never go and would probably be climbing the walls in pain as I type this.

I have just recieved the date for my next check up. I have to go on 22/11 at 10 am. And although I am dreading it, I'll go, because I want to keep my own teeth as long as possible.

I go regularly too. I had some cosmetic work done recently and I wish I hadnt bothered ,Its a nightmare with sensitivity, one sip of hot tea and its --- :wwww

I recommend CORSYDL mouthwash . Its great for the gums too, no sense having excellent teeth if you need the gums taken out

I should imagine there is only one pain worse than toothache and that was the footballer who dislocated his hip whilst playing. The physio came on to the pitch and put the joint back in place only to trap one of his b *ll*c*ks in the joint. Ouch.
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

Pain.....? I once tore the cartilage in my pelvis where the backbone joins it whilst playing footie. I shuffled around slowly losing the ability to walk upright and then when I tried to sit in my car I aggravated it and the pain made me pass out, some of my mates saw me slumped at the wheel and thought I'd croaked it!
Luckily it gradually healed itself but I've never felt anything like it (and I've had a Rottweiler hanging onto my leg but that's a story for another day!)

Want to know the last time I went to the dentist?

The day Paul Ince signed for Liverpool.

Think I'm due a check-up? ???
