One of them brought up a good point of going back to a 4-5-1. It may have been boring but at leastwe got results with it. We are too vunerable at the back and this is going to cost us.

Id hate to think what would happen to our funding if we didnt qualify for next years CL.

I dont think thats the answer either.  Thats not a system which encourages goals.  It is negative and if we go behind we look in trouble.  Rafa tried that system at Old Trafford and we were awful.  Last season playing 4-5-1 we didnt score goals

Ive said it before and have got slated for it but ill say it again. We have some quality players but the are not collectivley good enough to win the league.

We need major money in soon to buy some decent players. Gonzales may be good in the future but you can seriously expect someone from La Liga divison 2 to jump right into the Premiership after a few months in La Liga and make a name.

Everyone bashes on about not selling out to foriegners but everyones doing it an they are the teams that are winning and looking likley to win the league.

If nothing is done soon then we will find this club in limbo in 5 years as Blackburn are now.

To me its simply that we are basically set up as a counter attacking side.
How many times do we see our fullbacks ahead of the play/ball?
We always seem to react to the pass rather than be moving in anticipation.
We're looking dis-jointed, not a team with a pattern just a group of individuals.
Hopefully this is the calm before the storm, it cant really get much worse-caned by The :censored:. ManUsa, The bitters an Bolton before half way in the season aint good, so chin up boys an girls!! :upside:

2 years ago we relied on our hom form to make top 4 and we failed. Only winning the CL got us in the competition.  We need to win away to get in the top 4.

Mock me if you wish mate but where are we. Just do a quick calucultion and based on how many away games weve won this year, where do you think we will be come the end of the season?

You said after 5 years we'd be in limbo.

My response was - laughable

Only plus point is that we have our 5 hardest away games out of the way, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Bolton and Everton

The opportunity is there around Christmas time to have an extended run of wins.

We have some major problems:

1). Lack of width. We have no "wingers" in the team that are worth a damn. As a result the field is narrow which equals back passes and lost possession in the midfield. This is probably 60% of our problems at the moment.

2). Lack of effort. We are simply not getting into support positions fast enough especially in the final 3rd of the field which means that the strikers do not have much support and as a result they struggle. If you watched Arsenal, they attacked as a unit and defended as a unit. We definately did not do that today.

3). Lack of quality. We just didn't have anyone today that looked like they could make things happen. I don't fault the team selection of Rafa today becuase I like Zenden over Pennant. I am not sure about Gonzo over Garcia though. Rafa needs to stop buying decent players and start picking up players one by one that can really make a difference. Arsenal this summer did just that: Rosicky and Gallas are class. We picked up Jermaine FKING Pennant.

4). Tactics. If Rafa had studied the West Ham and Everton games he would have seen Arsenal really struggles to break defensive sides. Had we played 4-5-1 we might have looked a little more respectable.

Robbie Fowler needs to be playing right now as well.

granted they have been difficult games but to not get any points from them is not good enough.  Hard games or not we should be picking up points.
