LIVERPOOL VS GALATASARAY - Bring it on!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby adamnbarrett » Wed Sep 27, 2006 11:33 pm

We won but I am not very happy.

First half we were good, we bossed the game in the opening 30 minutes. Deserved both goals. Garcia was probably our best player in the half, good little runs and link up play made him effective. Kuyt worked hard as usual and Pennant was good in the first half. Crouch was excellent.

Second half it all changed after crouch's second outstanding goal.. Pennant's crossing wasn't as good. Garcia lost the ball more and looked bad. We then just collapsed defensively. Aurelio was caught out of position too mnay times and garcia is not defensively sound enough to cover him. The 2 goals that Gala scored both started on our left hand side. Aurelio is good when attacking but cannot get back when the ball is lost and because Garcia cannot cover it means Agger has to cover. Then Carra moves up to cover Agger and Finnan moves up to cover and there is a gap left at the back post and the ball is stuck in the net. It has happened before (i.e. Cahill's goal in the derby), it happened tonight and it will happen again unless we sort this out.

I think tonight we showed signs of maybe missing Hamann or maybe it was because Sissoko was missing (probably the latter). But if we still had the option of Didi, he is the type of player who can calm the defence down and get them organised. Our defence showed lack of experience tonight. I wouldn't be suprised to see Hyypia play against Bolton.

The bottom line is, it is not good to conceed 2 goals at home and we have to admit that if this was the 2 leg knockout stage, it would be very hard for us. We need to sort it out. Glad to get the 3 points though.

Thanks for the information. For a second I thought you would be waiting for us in Helsinki. But you're right, Istanbul is in Turkey. Your geographical knowledge knows no bounds.

Welcome to hell.

Actually no, because UEFA have ruled your stadium is just too crummy to host the five-time European Champions. So we'll play in the place that witnessed our greatest triumph of the 21st century.

Now, onto more important things.

It was a good match.

Crouch's second goal was stunning.

Credit of course to the opposition for not collapsing and coming back.

Once again an example of a team going into a lead and then becoming too complacent and inviting pressure. They had us on that right side. Those crosses were coming in. In that situation, the object should be to close down the opposition before they make the cross, but we seemed to be backing off and inviting them into space to cross. Big mistake. It cost us and could have cost us the game.

You are a genius student.  :rasp

We did Istanbul a hell for both Manchester and Leeds. Also remember 2001-2002 season how it was a hell for you.

Just wait for 2 months and see what a hell you will be in.

I will be in Ataturk Olimpic Satadium. Hope to see you.

That is certainly true.

Manhattan is the zenith of human intelligence.

The less said about Leeds United's trip to Turkey, the better. A couple of stabbings isn't exactly a great Turkish sporting achievement.

Also remember 2001-2002 season how it was a hell for you.

What is it with Turks and this obsession with the word "hell?"

I mean seriously.

Just wait for 2 months and see what a hell you will be in.

Nah, it will be heaven, as long as we don't take our foot off the pedal and give your fans something to cheer.

I will be in Ataturk Olimpic Satadium. Hope to see you.

hats off to the turkish fans tonight, they were class - kept on supporting their team 110% even at 3-0 down, even got a round of applause off the annie road after the end.

good game, we were class in the first half but i'm sure rafa's gonna be dishing out some b0llockings about defending in the 2nd half. aurelio didn't know whether he was coming or going when hakan sas came on. i'm expecting a very differrent liverpool in istanbul though - sissoko & xabi in the middle, stevie out right and maybe hyypia instead of agger with bellamy in for crouch

as for all the "welcome to hell" bullsh*t, grow up ya cave-dwelling f*ckwits, after 2005 we OWN istanbul :nod

Well you see, the Galatasaray fans were wearing red and yellow scarves that are also worn by members of Gryffindor house in Harry Potter and....

Meh.

Nevermind.
