Thommo's liverpool future in doubt

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Liverpool assistant manager Phil Thompson's future at the club is under threat.

If Valencia coach Rafa Benitez chooses to accept Liverpool's offer, he will insist that his No2, Francisco Ayestaran, join him at Anfield.

Thommo rejoined Liverpool in 1998 when Roy Evans left and has been Gerard Houllier's assistant up until last week.

Fellow coaching staff Sammy Lee and Ian Rush, however, could land more prominent roles at Anfield, particularly as Lee is a fluent Spanish speaker from his two-year spell at Osasuna in the mid-1980s.

Tommo for manager i say,
When he took charge for a couple of months when houllier was in hospital liverpool never lost once, maybe they drew a few but he did well.
when you're 4-0 up..
you should never lose 7-1

will thompson be missed?

well its a hard one to answer as  basically i believe that under houllier, thompson and any of the other coaching staff never really had a say in what was happening with the team etc, houllier was his own man and in my opinion i dont think he would have took advice from anyone

thommo was a b#llocker - a screamer - a touch line dancer...but after 5 years it tends to wear off unless you change from throwing tea cups to kicking boots at people...

the team clearly havent been motivated for the past two seasons so i think his role is dead.  however i would like to see him retained in some capacity in either the academy or as an ambassedor for the club...

the only two who should remain are sammy lee and ian rush full time.  the others can go.

amen

After 5 years you reckon bollicking wears off.....what about Fergie.  Hes been bollicking for the last 18 years.  I've a small bit of Spanish.  Do you reckon it is worth my while sending my C.V. in to anfield ?

A: Shoot the United Fan. Twice.
