Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If it's someone's fault for the situation, it's Rafa. If we lose like this in an official match,  and I am mainly talking about the match agienst Chelsea, which is very important, it will be a disaster. If we lose to them 5:0 like we lost to Mainz it will be a huge disgrace to us. We must to prepare well for Chelsea.

Liverpool in general is a good team, but we have to get an honorable result agienst Chelsea, and not be humiliated, else Rafa has to be fired. With all sympathy, let's just say we played bad. Very bad. I suppose that I started to have bad feelings about this season after we lost to Grasshoppers, because I dreamt how Milan revenges us from 2 years ago on the quarter finals and drops us from europe.. yes I really dreamt that. Thank god I woke up from this nightmare.

I can't stand this "Moronio" anymore. Let's shut his mouth already in the beginning of the season. We must win Chelsea! I never cry, at least not during this year, but I admit that if we will lose badly to Chelsea I will. Tears will fill my face, and I won't be ashamed to cry. It would deserve any tears I can spare.

Who doesn't agree with me? We have to beat Chelsea!

What kind of drivel is this?

I'd rather beat Chelski in the league and any other time we meet them this season than in a Charity Shield match. Who Cares about the Charity Shield?

Sack Rafa?? You're on drugs!

Mainz was fully aware that playing against Liverpool would be such an exclusive moment. They apparently gave a proper professional respect toward this match by preparing the team appropriately prior to the match. As for their supporters, watching their club performing against the 2005 CL winner was something you can't miss. Forget the nature of this game, but seeing their supporters (both intensity of of supports and the crowd of the attendees) you wouldn't believe taht it was 'only' a pre-season friendly match.

Their players know steven gerrard and xabi alonso. They wouldn't take the risk to be involved in one-to-one with them. They skipped the balls and finding a less risky areas to attack in krompkamp's or traore. From here, they would feed the ball to particularly look for errors probability within the heart of defense. Thank god we had carra at the first half.

Their defense played a no non-sense approach; 'why keep the ball when you just can get rid of it as soon as possible?

The first three goals were some absolute individual error from krompkamp, paletta (with a little help from peltier) and riise (easily read intercepted backpass) and had nothing to do with the overall team movement/strategy. How could those be teams responsibilities when you gave the yummy balls away in front of our looking extra big goal post? thank you very much!

Diao + peltier and hobbs were the guards responsibilities for the two last goals. They acted cluelessly when the ball coming through before ver easily slotted by opponents.

If Liverpool had kept their best players to the end of the match, I wouldn't have been so surprised if the match ended up draw or even a slight lost for us (say one goal aggregate. I think the opponents players and supporters put more respect and commitment to this match.

all goals conceded gradually came along with the replacement of our main line-ups. So, i wouldn't lose any sleep over losing where alikes of diao, traore, hobbs, peliter etc remaining involved.

It was only a pre-season friendly, so whether we win or lose it doesn't really matter.  I'm sure that even our stars involved in the first half took little risks in tackles etc... in order not to get injured.

Your having a laugh, if you mean this then you have no right to call yourself a liverpool fan, or a football fan

Rather an idiotic thing to say BugSniper.  :no

My god! I cannot believe some of the comments on this forum over night. Sack Rafa? Are you mad?
Let's get some perspective here, it's a preseason friendly. How many results of pre-season games can you remember over the years? Yeah, I agree, it's :censored: to lose at anytime but rather we lose now than on Wednesday (or at any other point throughout the season). Pre-season is about fitness and trying out new systems and new players. It has nothing to do with results. It is ludicrous to say that Rafa should be aiming to win at all costs and playing his first choice 11 for the 90 minutes, we face another 60+ game season and I personally would prefer to bring the players up to full fitness slowly rather than knackering them out on in a pointless pre-season friendy which means nothing!

I'm sick of airy fairy fu.cks on this site coming on and saying friendlies don't matter.  Oasis - you are a fu.cking knob mate, you have no passion for the club and quite frankly should fu.ck right off.  If you had EVER played football competitively like you say then you would be pi.ssed off with this result - that's what shows who has actually played the game - anyone who has knows that while the game does not count for points or anything, getting 5 goals stuck past you without reply is embarrassing.  If you're willing to roll over and take that as a player or a fan then you've no balls, because you don't get anywhere in football without caring about things like this - that's why a lot of our players and fans will be hurting right now and people like Oasis will already have forgotten about it and be sitting pulling themselves off or something.

I'm also of the opinion that Benitez completely fu.cked up last night.  Great manager?  Yes.  But he's not beyond criticism.  Last friendly of the season - fu.ck the fringe players and youth boys, they've had their shot, this should have been about playing our usual back 4 and keeper for the majority of the game to let them gel, not playing useless feckers like Diao and Traore.

Rafa needs to fu.cking sort it for the Maccabi Haifa game.  In my opinion the last 2 pre-season games have been wasted by him and we need to step things up now.  I'm confident we will as I think a 5-0 reverse will have given Benitez and the players the kick up the hole they needed.

How about you tell that to the German fans who got thumped 5-1 against England and didn't give a :censored:. Why? Because they knew that they would qualify for the world cup and they knew they can deliver when it matters. It's a pointless friendly, yeah losing 5-0 is bad, I'm not saying it isn't, would you rather we lost 5-0 in a friendly or 5-0 to Chelsea in the league? When I played football at a younger age none of us cared about losing, pointless friendlies, why? Because we saw them as a training match. We got beaten 4-0 in a friendly to a team that finished just outside the relegation zone in our league the season before. Sure it was embarrassing but it was just a friendly, we then faced them in the league twice and we won 8-1 and 3-0. League results and competitive results count, friendlies and testimonials don't. That's my view on it, if you don't like it, f.uck off.  :D

I don't give a fu.ck about your primary school league mate, I've said it before but your lack of passion for the club you claim to support is shocking.

Don't patronise me by asking whether I'd prefer it if we lost last night or against Chelsea.  The answer is obvious even to a moron like you.  There were no points at stake last night, but in a football match there is ALWAYS something at stake...pride.  And we got humiliated last night no matter what way you try to dress it up.

You cared more about Mexico in the World Cup than you do about Liverpool.  :censored:.

We got beaten 5-0 in a pointless friendly, big f.ucking deal, if we lose 5-0 in a league match then I might just care, but until then, I won't.
