If true, good ol Iain Dowie.

5-0 ?

It's a pre-season friendly you a.rse. Why get upset about it? It's understandable if it's a competitive match, but a friendly.  ???

Only a friendly ? We play a vital qualifier this week and have lost 3 times on the bounce to mediocre oppostion.
You can call me an a@se if you want, but i am a liverpool supporter and losing 1-0 in a game hurts, never mind f'cking 5, all you's putting your little smiley faces on posts stating the result doesn't matter are wrong.
Losing is a bad habit to get in to, as is conceding goals and we are doing both.
No matter who you are playing or what the stakes are....anyone who has a bit about them is desperate to win the game, it could be a game of 5 a side with the lads or a cup final...either way you dont want to lose...and if you do its not a joke...only a born loser...or someone who doesnt care would think that way, imo you are probably both.

I reckon the club should release the results from training sessions, this way all you can worry your asses off about those results as well.

I see no difference between the two. 5-0 is a bit emberassing but the fact of the matter is that we conceded goals as soon as certain individiuals came on in the game who just happened to f#ck up in the previous games.

When did worrying change anything? By sitting here and moaning about a meaningless result [imo because nobody really will give a :censored: about it at the end of the season], will that change anything?

Will the moaning, whinning,b!tching, change the mistakes made by the younger lads in the game five minutes from time?

The f#ck it will. My heart rate goes through the rough when we play regural games, but we're debating pre-season friendlies.

I reckon we should sack Benitez. Bring back Diouf and Cheyrou, winning pre-season games is all that matters.

[/sarcasm]

There's three things we should be discussing:

-the link up play between key players, at times the interplay between Pennant,Bellamy,Gerrard,etc.. was top notch
-the fact that our key players have gotten some game time ahead of the match on Wed.
-the fact that we've gained fitness and haven't picked up any long term or major injuries.

Now I suggest that all of you stop f#cking yourselves to death about this game, because it will change nothing.

This reaction is not a surprise really, when we won all of our friendlies last season there were loads of people complaining because we weren't playing well enough in PRE-SEASON.

I doubt that any of those people looked back at the season and said "F#ck me, the highlight of the season was beating all of them teams in pre-season eh"

Dont try an portray me as some fan who goes ott about any result cos i am not.
I am still totally optimistic about the season, and think we could win the title.
I am not happy with selections pre-season and results.
They may not matter when the season starts but the manner of the defeats and the scorelines are not good enough.
Not going over the top, just stating a fact.

i love this thread, can it get any better? i am trying to remain optimistic as its not that our first team that conceded the goals, screw hobbs and paletta, let them train in the reserves until they are really ready

Rafa Benitez on today's game:

"The only positive to take from the game in Mainz is that it was a pre-season match. It is clear that we made a lot of mistakes and gifted them a lot of goals, but it wasn't an official game.

"In the first half I thought we were the stronger side but after the break we made too many mistakes. In fact we have made mistakes in all three of our European friendlies and that's not normal for us. It's not normal to see Liverpool conceding so many goals and that's why I'm not too worried. We know we need to correct things. We need to analyse why things have been going wrong and work hard to fix them.

"When we get home we can start a new week with a new mentality and a new idea and I'm sure we'll be much better on Wednesday when the official games begin."

We are Liverpool FC and dont like losing to anyone, let alone 5-0 that is embarassing. It may not have an effect on how we start the season, but we have a little thing called pride to think about.
WTF has my post got to do with goths ? I never hinted the world was ending, i stated that being murdered by a german mid table side was a major set back. The last time i remember losing like that in a friendly it was against Ajax (when they were European champions) but you probably supported someone else then.

You need anger management help if you're getting p.issed off over a pointless friendly that in two months time will be forgotten about. I agree Liverpool FC shouldn't lose but again it's a friendly. Pride don't make me laugh, that has nothing to do with a friendly. Your post has everything to do with "goths" because you're acting like one, I'm surprised you've not come out with a comment like "Oh no it's the end of the world, such a bummer dude". Nice dig at the end. :D

Alright guys,

ok only a friendly, but 5-0 losing to ANY team whatsoever is a disgrace. we dont even get beat by Chelsea by that margin! FFS, and looking at the starting line up and subs raises eyebrows.

ok it's no big worry, but I hope we do not perform like that in the upcoming CL qualifier, or we will not be happy!

I thought we had sold Traore??

I mean Mainz? who are they???

This also proves to not be complacent, and rafa has surely gambled by buying "potential" players for the future, like paletta, aureila, agger, and pennant, and not proven players.Ok pennant is ok, but is he world class?

Liverpool: Carson, Traore, Hyypia (captain), Carragher, Kromkamp, Zenden, Gerrard, Alonso, Pennant, Crouch, Bellamy. Subs - Dudek, Peltier, Hobbs, Paletta, Riise, Anderson, Diao, Sissoko, Garcia

And thats some experienced players in that line up indeed!

Oasis, i will ask you a question.

Assuming you can play football, you are having a pre-season friendly with your sunday league team, you get tw@tted 5-0.

Would you think ah f'ck it, i feel fitter and we've learnt alot in this game, or would you be p!ssed off and embarassed.

I know which one i would be.

Keep spouting sh!t about goths and the end of the world lad, i know i still have things in perspective.
As i said to AB i am still confident about the season, but its absolute b@llocks to say a result like that bears no significance at all, as it was just a friendly.
I cant be bothered with insults but that is a losers attitude, as i said thats not meant as an insult, but winners want to win anything they compete in....be it a game of pool or a football match.

Once again, we may have had a good starting line up but all the goals were conceded in the 2nd half when we had made substitutions and 3 of the goals were conceded right at the end when we had mostly reserve players on

I agree with Ace - I am p*ssed off. To lose 3 games on the bounce is bad enough but 5-0 is a disgrace. Friendly matches are not only to gain fitness but to build team spirit and confidence as well. If our defenders cant defend and our strikers cant score its not going to give them much confidence is it?

I've played for a sunday league side as a kid and as a teenager and when we lost in pre-season matches, I wasn't remotely bothered by it, I went home, had a shower and watched T.V. When we lost in a county cup and the league then I was p.issed off, because they were the results that mattered.

You don't have things in perspective though. You're annoyed about a pointless friendly which was played to give youngsters and fringe players as well as first teamers a chance of gain fitness and it was a chance for Rafa to try out new things and the way you are acting is like one of those loser goths who thinks being dumped or having a slight set back is the end of the world.

You think what you like, but if you're getting angry over a pointless game of pool with your mates and pointless football matches I'll be surprised you have any friends, that's not an insult that's a fact. It's nice to be competitive but being overally competitive is also a sign of a loser.

So you can carry on getting worked up about the loss, I won't, I don't want to give myself a heart attack.
