He has had so many problems with his knee and I believe he had a couple of operations on them. With his hefty upper body and running style he is likely to suffer injuries in the future as well. Purely from a medical point of view I would stay well clear.
From a footballing point of view, last season was the first team he has got into double figure in the Premiership in terms of league goals, and only the 3rd time he has done so since his career began in 1996, with the other 2 times being for Norwich in the old first division, were he played 36 and scored 13, and played 40 and scored 17, so his goal scoring record isn’t really much better than that of Heskey. Warranted that he does provide a real threat with his roar acceleration and determination, but his overall game is average to be honest.
And from a person point of view, he is an @rsehole outside of football by the sounds of it, and is a w@nker on the field, he has an attitude problem towards his team mates and opposition. Some people in life are just plain kunts, no matter what environment you give them or what help or guidance you to try to bring them under they wont change, for me, Bellamy is just one of life’s w@nkers, I know it’s a big statement to make since I’m not exactly close to him, but it’s a statement I am willing to make anyway.
So for me, it is a big fat NO!
who do you suggest then?
The thing is we are looking for 2 quality strikers to come straight into the first team, players that can offer us more than Fowler, Crouch, Morientes, Cisse, Garcia, Pongolle, Le Tallec or Mellor. We have a very strong squad and are only really looking at getting that final 20% or so. The players that come in now must be players that can go into the first team and help us make a leap to the next level, I just feel that the stage were Rafa bought players that would help shape the squad has gone, we now have a nicely balanced and shapely squad, its only about improving the first team.
From all the players mentioned I would have to say that my favourite would be Kuyt, but I’m saying that without having done significant research on him. I have seen him in a few games only, and from what I can see he has no glaring weakness unlike most of the other strikers we have been linked with. He is tall, good in the air, has enough pace to pose the threat of beating the defender, defiantly has a goal scoring instinct, can play with his back to goal, seems like an intelligent user of the ball and seems to show a good amount of professionalism and desire. For me it is clear to see that he has no major weakness, it is just a matter of whether his attributes are good enough to make him a good Premiership player and worth the £10Mil or so that has been quoted, its up to Rafa to have a close look at him and decide this, I personally haven’t seen enough of him to say that he is worth 10Mil, but I can confidently say that he wouldn’t fail in the Premiership ala Morientes.

Rafa.
