We knocked ourselves out

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If Morientes was French he would be warming the bench by now, thats it i think. And with Cisse not being his signing has something to do with it. It wouldn't surprise me though if Morientes was still here come next season. With Rafa still playing him looking for his goals, and scratching his head..

I would like to say well done to all the lfc players! They were not lucky but we have left the competition with the worst manner! 0-2 at home???  this really is the limit! and we won't forget the 2 goalpost !!
I still for all my life loving LFC and we have also a second place to win ; a cup to play ! and another big game vs. Arsenal ! GOOD LUCK BENFICA:( :( :(

I don't know if the strikers are nessesarily our biggest problem - How many chances - apart from set pieces did we make tonight?

One positive i can think of from that game is Xabi Alonso, if you didnt already know we have are selfs the best midfielder in the premership and well on his way to being the best in europe and the world.

(ofcourse we know he will never get that silly award because he doesnt have all the flicks and trick, he just plays football.)

He broke down play amazingly in the first half, made some gritty tackles, played some wonderfull passes and had a great strike saved. I think rafa needs to continue to let Gerrards and Alonso's partnership develop in the center. Garcia had a okay game out wide, played a few nice passes and got into usefull positions, although given away possesion and going quite at times.

If we get hold of a decent insher and a out and out right winger the future certainly looks bright, but we have to act soon, before we let one of our best teams get to old before the improvements are made.

Top post that mate. A bit of perspective is always welcome (Morientes is still sh!te tho'   :D )

He's a class act tho and it's hard to see a player of his quality struggle as he is. I've already mentioned that I don't think he can cut it in the Prem, but that's not to say he can't cut it at all (if you know what I mean).

It's funny to see a few of the Cisse bashers comments. Everyone's quick to judge, but they are putting a guy down who has spent majority on the bench, when played, put on the right wing - and is our 2nd top scorer, having scored 4 more than Crouch and Morientes respectively. Beggars belief  ???  :Oo:

why all he ever does is plays on te right coz he has got "pace"
he has got bags of playe but cant cross for a toffee get him up front and i can gaurantee he will score he got 12 goals this season more than n e other striker and he has playes far fewer gamesim certain benitez dont like the french

The game was better than the 1st leg. You tried to score but our defense played very well. Then the Simão showman Sabrosa made what we know and the rest was the defense of a nice advantage in anfield. The best team won. The atmosphere was good and i also listened a lot of times our supporters :). Good luck for FACup and i wish you reach the 2nd in PL.  Adeus!

I would have felt unhappy with the draw let alone losing 2-0, it was all Liverpool :glare:

Come on guys, Cisse is poor! he is bad in front of goal, his first touch is awful, he is ALWAYS complaining and he hasn't got a 'football brain' :(

Well, Im dissapointed with the loss and every liverpool fan really is dissapointed, but we need to face reality now, we are out and that is that we can't change it but this could be a good thing to liverpool football club on the positive sides of things, we can now concentrate on the F.A cup and the premier league more, and we can have more rest for the players. Cheer up in the end we are Liverpool Football Club and 5 times european champions! there is always another time! Benitez will find the scoring formula soon, trust him don't doubt him.

now BRING IT ON ARSENAL!

but congrats to arsenal on knocking out real madrid, i'll be cheering them in the Champions League
