We knocked ourselves out

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Wed Mar 08, 2006 10:53 pm

Right Im ready for a fucking rant
Constant persistance with Fernando Morientes has cost us prem games plus CL games.
I know he is Rafa's best mate but FFS Rafa we went out of Europe tonight because you persist on playing him.
Pongolle could come off the bench and turn a game, Milan Baros ran his heart out for Liverpool had pace was a goal threat but he got shipped off and out aswell.

In comes Peter Crouch BTW he is still not good enough for Liverpool football club, harsh but true I know the idea of him sort of thing but he is just a taller Heskey.
We have never replaced Michael Owen, he would have a f.uckin field day with the chances we create.

We didnt get beat over 2 legs I am not Mourhino but Benfica where there for the taking sorry, if we took our chances in the first half with a prolific goal scorer we would have gone through.

so basicly we knocked ourselves out because we fail to put it in the onion bag.
A game to far aswell maybe thanx to UEFA with us having a two week holiday then back to buisness, oh well we can concentrate on finishing 2nd now (goals permitting :glare: )
Probably play them feckin cheating rent boys in the F.A.Cup.

So guys we are still in with a chance of the F.A.Cup and automatic qualification to the CL next season.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

It's very frustrating when we have two of the best central midfielders in world football playing out of their skins, yet we can't even score against a decent (nothing more than that) Benfica side.

Ciggy your right, i could never understand why rafa got rid of Baros like you said he ran and ran and was a threat infront of goal.

but these players (Moro, Cisse and Crouch) are paid :censored: loads to put a ball in a net why cant they even do that?

As for Traore hes gotta go i can do better and i have a wooden leg (J/K),  this idiot is a liability.

agreed. on all counts. moro has had more lives than 10 cats and its time to 'put him down'.
In defence our hand was forced due to injury... but traore and wornock playing the whole game? ???? Rafa got it wrong there aswell.

Disappointing, for sure. Benfica played well.

I have no idea why Traore is still at LFC to be honest.

Cisse and Morientes to go in Summer.

We had enough chances, Crouch came close hitting the bar but yet again, our strikers just aren't delivering the goods.

The pitch was pretty bad, and an overreliance on little flicks and long hopeful balls cost us today.

Concentrate on getting that second place in the Prem and the FA Cup. Priority for the summer are new strikers.

i agree fully crouch is not what the standard for liverpool if liverpool wants to achieve big things in the near future. Yes , his touches are gd, his link up plays are gd. sounds so familiar? ciggy, i have to say , u are right about the tall heskey thing. he is at best. a bench player, like L garcia. LG just can't play the whole game with consistent threat on goals. i really doubt we will get two quality strikers in the summer, due to the lack of funds. Dun see us winning any major throphy in the next 3 yrs..

I agree with moro he is not the player we wanted and thought we signed crouch is good for england coming off the bench as he should for us fowler is are only threat. I rate cissy but he needs games up front as he can score when he plays up front, on another not good to see anderson on the bench o and where was are norwegian left back anyone

IMHO Cisse is probably more of a threat than Crouch and Morientes, I do not want this to be another Fernando slating but Rafa's starting line up for the two games knocked us out of the CL because he persist with Crouch and Morientes.
Both as slow as a snail, both target men both cows @rse and bango come to mind.
I cannot slate Fowler because at least he has found the back of the fuckin net on 3 occations but all offside.

The rumours of Rafa going to Madrid if he didnt get 30 million in his war chest bump that price up to 50 cause the forward line we have at the moment are totally sh.ite.

In all my years of being a Liverpool fan Ive never ever witnessed such a poor goal threat and Im talking 30 years here, Im sure Woof, Daglish, Peewee and woolly would all agree.

This is f.uckin dire this is not what Liverpool football club is all about, its about pass and move, score.
Its dreadfull infact I am totally disgusted.

Think you're over the top personally Lynds, it's not the end of the world. At least it will take a load of strain off the player's now they have no extra CL games, that's one bright side.

What you said about Crouch is BS, he's only never good enough when he doesn't score or play well! He's been a great signing and in my opinion you're making him a scape goat for tonight just because he missed that great chance. Of course you'd have never said this if he had of put away that chance, would you? No.

But I do agree with everything esle, Morientes has got to go. I think Cisse need's to get some praise he deserves, he's tried hard the last two games and got stuck in, but people turn a blind eye to his good performances...seemingly. But honestly, I can't wait to see the back of Morientes.

I'd query the substitutions to be honest. Kewell wasn't having a great game, but replacing him with Cisse and reshuffling the pack pretty much killed us. I'd query the logic of having someone like Anderson on the bench if you're not going to use him. It was a desperate time in the game, and maybe he'd have been a more imaginative solution. Not Rafa's way though, obviously, and I can certainly see why he didn't do it.

As for up front, Morientes hasn't looked like scoring for me for months now, and I expect him to be dropped big time. Crouch and Fowler should, and I expect will, get a run for the remainder of the season. Cisse and Morientes will probably now have to rely on substitute appearances to save their Liverpool careers.

Incidentally, I've seen Baros's name crop up in about 4 threads in 10 minutes now, and everyone rooting for him can just f*ck off and get a clue. With hindsight, loaning out Pongolle looks a very questionable decision, but harking back to a sale made last summer is just ridiculous. We bought Crouch with the Baros funds, and although he was pish in front of goal tonight I wouldn't sell him for anyone.

Cant understand either why he sticks with Morientes? He shows some nice touches , but thats about the lot..its sooooo fcuking frustrating-Fowler should have replaced him at half time or even started. Hes just going through the motions.
As for Cisse :no 14 million pounds worth of talent-someone stuck an extra couple of naughts on his price tag for a laugh...and got away with it.

I must admit, I know Agger is a signing for the future, BUT to not have a tried and tested
CB has found us out tonite. We signed him yet he was cup tied. Doh!
Traore got dragged out of position for their first goal.
