British v english manager

I can understand people wanting the best canditate in the world to be England manager and I can also see why some people want an English man to be the next manager.

But why the F would somebody say he should be British, it is not a British team.

I mentioned in another thread do English people blur the line between English and British - one for the English people on this site, its not a slur but a query. I mean Would a Scot as manager be better than a Spaniard?

I know people will say its because of Martin O'Neill but if you want a foreigner as manager why not just say that you don't mind if the manager is foreign?
