There is also a square off to the left of La Ramblas (as you face the port) which has loads of bars and restaurants with street entertainers at night. Very touristy (with a fair amount of American college kids) but I have to say, I enjoyed it.

Barcelona is a great city, great vibe to the place.

Was in that square last year JBG, there one cafe there that does loads and loads and loads of different Tapa's ,we spent the whole evening there sat outside in the warm evening air, munching and knocking back tequila's ,watchin' the world go by .Saw a bag snatcher try to rip of some Jap tourists , as he legged it with a Jap lady's bag another Jap tripped him and kicked the livin' sh'it outta him and the rest of the Japs started takin' pictures .

Good stuff .and yeah Barcelona is a great city for a short break .

I only spent 1 night and 2 days in Barcelona, back in 2002.

I was pretty broke at the time and decided to go on a cheap and cheerful sun holiday to Salou, which is just down the coast.

Salou is an absolute dumb, full of very fat man and women in their 30s covered in tatoos with 4 or 5 brats hanging out of them. Its a cheap and nasty "family" resort with cra.p bars and no night scene to speak of, just loads of tack and sh.ite and a massive beach.

Salou was the last time I went on a proper "sun" holiday, ever since I've gone for places off the beaten track that I organised myself.

The very man!  :bowdown

Yes, thats him. He has no legs, but goes around in what can only be described as a lid of a bin on wheels that he pushes around with his hands, a bit like Eddie Murphy at the start of Trading Places!

Hours of entertainment. We watched him pretending to be injured or sick all night and scabbed money off impressionable middle aged Japanese tourists!  :D

The only way JB, I have never booked a holiday in my life , just bought a ticket or hitchhiked to "somewhere" and sorted myself out when I got there .

What are people's travel plans this year?

I'm going to Paris on the 24th of February for a long weekend, will probably go to Liverpool once or twice, but am hoping to go somewhere like South America in the autumn.

Anywhere in Latin America that you'd recommend, Woof?

Im off to Barca as well, the 13th Feb, with my footie team. Got a couple of friendlys lined up. We are  a goot team but im scared we might get played of the field by the Raul's, Fernando's and Enrique's. :D

We are also touring the Nou Camp, which should be exciting, I'v heard only good things about it. Might pick up a Messi or Ronaldinho shirt in all.

Ya! jammie sod Alonso14  :D  I went for the first and only time back in april 2001 for a 21st birthday prezzie and it was amazing. Deffo take in the barca museum as in terms of size it puts anfields to shame but not in the trophy haul  :p , if you can though take the tour of the stadium as you actually get to go out by the dugouts at the side of the pitch (i didn't and i've always regretted it - I think i'll have to go back  :idea ) the shear size of the stadium will just blow your mind as it makes Anfield look like a bungalow!
The club shop is an experience on its own; the top half is where all the barca official kits and training wear can be bought but there is also a replica of the old terracing that they used to have on the top tier of the stadium that takes you down to the souvenir area of the shop where you can buy just about anything that you can think of with the barca badge on it. One warning though, they also used to sell (don't know whether they still do) the jarge footy shirts that you see when on holiday in the spanish resorts that are really shitty quality so if you want a real one make sure you get one from the upstairs area - if they are still there.
I can guarantee you'll have a crackin' time whilst you're there you jammie git!  :D
