Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i wish everyone would stop slagging off gerard houllier. fair enough we've had a disappointing season but what does everyone expect when we're up against teams supported by millions of knuckle dragging morons worldwide and a team which has become a russian billionaires plaything. me and my mate stubbsy met gerard a couple of years ago in the south of france and he was a top bloke. he even had his picture taken with us (my scanner isn't that great so apologies about the quality)

Houllier has had two bad seasons in a row and three out of five - why should we lay off a man who has spent over £100m in moving us down the league?  ???

because he gives 100%. plus.
fair enough a change probably is needed but if the board can't see this it's they who deserve the stick not someone who's giving his all.

He gives 100% is not a defence nor an excuse, I expect Souness gave 100% and Evans as well but it is results that matter not how much a manager loves a club or how much he gives. If he loved the club he'd do what's best for the club - leave

Maybe if Houllier started to turn things around wed lay off him...thats what this board is for ..getting our feelings out with fellow pool fans...Of course houllier gives 100% -so do the fans when they pay at the gate ...not a penny less

A: Shoot the United Fan. Twice.

Leave him alone? we all want what is best for the club at the end of the day.  He cant take this club any further, we need a chg of management at the end of the season regardless of if we finish 4th or not.  We have become simply average under him.

LEAVE HIM ALONE??? I think you're havin a larf me lad! There has been a lot of vitriol and hogwash posted about Houllier and some of it has been downright offensive.
However that does not detract from the fact that he is under achieving.
Make no mistake, he is trying his best for the club he has just come up short in several key areas. The majority of fans and football people on both radio and tv can't all be wrong when we see Biscan as a liability, whilst Houllier sees him as "a potentially awesome centre back" ???
He never (and should he ever) slaughters players in public-nevertheless some of his buys are patently NOT GOOD ENOUGH. As long as we continue to accomodate these sub-standard performers we will be a sub-standard team.
The biggest bug-bear for a lot of the fans is the brand of football we are being forced to watch, it's turgid and un-imaginative. Some of the worst ever from ANY Liverpool team at any time.
I think he has progressed as far as he can and the board would do well to seriously consider a change at the end of the season. He has another year on his contract but i don't see that as being enough time to right the wrongs.:(
