I wish kewell is out of liverpool

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby hobbes » Tue Dec 06, 2005 4:43 am

I am certainly not the type of fan who jumps on mistake made by the lads.

I jumped because of the attitude I watched in Kewell. Sisoko red card did affect me that much. even when Traore made silly challenge and gave penalty , I was not criticizing him.

Liverpool is a fighting team. We fought back. We made the come back of the come back.

When I watch Kewell's lacakadasical attitude, that :censored: me and prompted me to write.

If anyone watched the Wigan's game carefully, you would see Morientes coming back to defend and working so hard.

We will see whether Kewell is improving or not

I see a player struggling for fitness and confidence caught between trying to beat his man or play the simple pass and I see a player scared of trying to do what used to come so naturally for fear of being booed fans in the stands. Kewell's season last year was pretty much washed out by injury but i recall watching him several times and being impressed by his effort and workrate. He wasn't doing so well with the ball at his feet but he was doing all the ugly stuff, tracking back, putting in tackles and winning headers. He was getting called lazy at this time also.

If Harry was ugly, wore black boots, cut his hair, didn't have his house on MTV Cribs and was married to someone who wasn't on 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!' would he get as much stick?

I'm not saying he has been our best player or anything dumb like that but do feel he gets a hard time from the fans.

Spot on SB.

He is getting there...slowly.  I watched the game on TV and had no issues with his work rate.  In fact I actually thought that Garcia was abit awol against Wigan.

Kewell has showed top notch vision so far in his come back and pulled of some really great passes that should have been put away.  He's working hard in tracking back and not giving the ball away as much as Garcia does (though Luis is improving in this regard too).

The more he plays the better he'll get as his confidence and fitness come back.  More importantly, us as fans will start to come around and get behind him again.  Then we'll see the real Kewell.

give Kewell more time. he'll come back. he just seems to be in doubt whenever he touches the ball. He's stuck with a decision to make, whether to break down the wing and whip in the ball or to just do the simple thing. He doesn't get to dribble much and ends up standing over the ball thinking of what to do next. he doesn't seem to be confident in dribbling like he used to. but he is improving, he's tracking back and he does put some good passes. give him some time, back him up, and hopefully we'll have the kewell from before

Who was the one who shut down one of Wigan's last strikes on our goal (when we were outnumbered by about 4-2)?? I'll give you a hint, he was wearing number 7!!! Shutting down is a defensive action...therefore the player was defending!!   :upside:

Kewell is not a 'boots and all' player. He plays with skill and finesse, NOT kick em first and ask questions later...every team needs both types of players and Liverpool is fortunate enough to have both, but don't judge them by the same scale because one or the other will always come up lacking something.

Not sure me and you were watching the same match then because i thought he worked hard and has since his comeback.
He was doing the ugly stuff, but looked short in confidence when going forward, thats probably because he is scared to make a mistake due to the criticism he has had lately.

He will gradually gain the confidence back with games, and i hope he continues his improvement.

A fully fit Harry Kewell could be a massive bonus for us.

Hobbes i am of the opinion you have jumped on the bandwagon with regards to kewell not working hard since his comeback.

I guess we can finally say now Harry is back or do we still have doubters out there of the lads class?

I expect this goal to be the spark of many more to come with Harry's offensive side to his game hit top gear. Man U beware.... Kewell has the measure of Ferdinand hands down..... *Flashback - Australia V England*

Kick another one next week Harry !!!!

What the hell do you care if you are not LFC fan ?

If you bothered to read through the other kewell threads you will see many fans supporting kewell, however we have all been annoyed with him in the past.

He will be eased back into the team and when he gets 5-6 full games under the belt, you will be singing his praises. I firmly believe this, primarly becuase he has the worldcup to look forward to now.

I can't comment on last night's game yet, I haven't seen it, but from all accounts I am sure Kewell was not the only one that was playing the game as if it was a foregone conclusion.

The thing is though Babu I watched his performance against Uruguay and he ran his socks off and also played with heart.

I have never seen him put in a performance like that for us even when he has been fully fit.

Why is that ?

Very Good question.

all i am saying is:
if he does not start performing after he's had a good 5 or 6 games under him, during a world cup year, then he never will in a Red shirt.

I just reckon he will.

btw hobbes, suck a fat one. lol  :D   :p

No. A big , great, huge, f*ck off to the pesky believers. ;) (take the :censored: off lightly, please, I'll explain my point now)

Only a few has criticised Kewell with animosity or stupid hate. Most of the mates has criticised what was obvious, some poor performances, the com back from an injury in not the best physical conditions, lost balls, etc, etc, etc.

Most of the mates have said that in the last 2-3 games Kewell has improved a lot, and most of the mates will agree that yesterday he was brilliant.

People here in europe is fan of the club, not the player. No matter how much you love a player, no matter his name (Zidane, Beckham, Alonso) if one player starts to play poorly, or train poorly, he's entitled to go to the bench. And some of you (it doesn't really matter the nicknames) defended Kewell too much, asking him to be in the starting eleven when his form was obviously poor. This gets the people tired, and makes even the bashing even harder. It doesn't help neither this kind of "see? we were right".

As I said, this is a team. If I had to be a fan of a player here, I'd be of Alonso, he's of my city, he's utter class, but I won't be doing a thread of praises every week, it would stink, wouldn't it?. I preffered to defend the players who where slagged but were playing well, like Crouch at some point, or Morientes, right now. Do you know what people told me when I said in 2004 "Alonso is a great player, he plays EXCELLENT long balls, and read the matches well?". I was told "do you know who's Gerrard?" meaning that LFC already had that. I didn't come back to quote that (whoever he was) and point out "feck off". It's understandable someone had doubts about a player, and after all, everyplayer has to EARN the place in the starting eleven. Kewell has done so last weeks , but that's not forever, if he plays poorly or trains poorly he can lose it, as anybody.

My point, OK there was too much bashing against Kewell, but also too much "blind" defending of the player.

That said, I must admit he's class. THe least of all is the goal. A volley is a volley, and while it's true you have to position the body correctly, I think a bit of luck must be always involved in a volley.

But Kewell did much more than that. He helped a lot in the pressure, making Riise's game quiet, he provoked a red card (aye, he dragged his leg cleverly seeking the contact imho), shot another excellent long shot that if it was not deflected probably was goal (and was in the correct place for that). Excellent match, and the super volley is not one of the first 3 reasons, well, it is, because the 3 points, but not the goal itself.

I just wanted to cool some heads, because I don't want later when Kewell plays a bad game 3 threads selling him to Spain or Japan :D that also gets tired people, or at least me.
