I agree about it being a joke the aussies having to playoff against south american opposition.
It makes no sense, it wont happen next time as they are in the asian section i think, but its a bit of a joke that the african and central american sides are guaranteed positions in the world cup.
U.S.A and Mexico's qualifiers are almost as easy as the aussies imo.

Yes the bloody Aussies got into Asia.  Us poor Kiwis look on in envy, its been a long-held dream for a lot of football fans in New Zealand to join Asia, just as Australia have done.  Imagine actually playing regular football to a reasonable level.

I live in hope (but not a lot) for the day when Asia gets split in half, west and east, and East Asia picks up Oceania.  I'm not sure if this'll be good or bad for the island nations, but football in NZ is crying out for a move like this.  We'll never progress without it I'm afraid.  I mean, look at what Uruguay are achieving with only 3 1/2 million people - and why?  It is not just a great history, and an absolute love of the game, though those things of course help.  It's because they REGULARLY play against some of the best teams in the world.

Go Uruguay! :p

Thankfully the people who make the decisions have a little bit more knowledge of the game than el stinger. All he can do is to make wild generalisations and tacky inuendo...debates/discusses like a 12 year old, and certainly thinks the world revolves around himself, which is why I come to the conclussion he is still just a boy.

Laza...agreed, Guus is pulling the right strings and making players do all those things that we had hoped they might. Long live Aussie Gus!!  :D

And I've come to the conclusion that you are a football bandwagon supporter, who has started watching football since the AFL season has finished. Viduka's role can easily be thwarted, put 2 men on him. There are no other strikers in the team, so once he is taken out, who's gonna score the goals? Cullina? Australia have to stop thinking about playing a 4-5-1 and pumping the long balls up to the lone striker because he is lazy. Aloisi was much better for the Socceroos when he came on than Viduka has done all his International career. Viduka sucks, GET OVER IT!

El Stinger I notice with respect that you have the status of LFC Elite Member with 687 posts.  Well done.  Sadly though, on the basis of this last post I won't be looking any of them up in the hope of finding some sensible comments or contributions.  Sorry.

I'll treat this comment with the contempt it deserves as I do with the author.

End of conversation.   :talktothehand

Boohoo sweetheart :D

All those who think he brings something to the squad, have yet to show how. Its all well and good to say he is good, but you guys have given ANY examples in International games where he is useful. I have given plenty reasons why he is useless, but I'm yet to be convinced by your comments and by watching the games from the lad himself.

Kewell on the other hand is pure class, given he has had a bad spell with us, he will start to come into his own very soon. Viduka, well, he might as well come back and play in the A-League with the likes of Dwight Yorke, cos the A-League needs another wash up striker to earn loads of cash for doing bugger all.

Even in training he is a lazy pr1ck, just look at him next to Harry...

Football in NZ is going down the pan mate, and this move by Australia is just going to make things worse. In all fairness though, Australia was always superior in Oceania, and they had to move to progress the sport in Australia.

Rugby and to a lesser exteny Rugby League are by far the dominat football codes, while Football has been completely forgotten about.

Oh well at least the All Blacks are doing well, go Uruguay!  :D

Well i think Kiwis should come along, just like the A-league we need someone to fill the bottom of the ladder and they do the job perfectly :)

He still hasn't scored though. Now is the time to step up, if he doesn't, well, we all know what my thoughts about it are.
