Viduka's role can easily be thwarted, put 2 men on him.

El Stinger i havent read many of your posts on any other issue so i'm not sure whether you constantly post bizarre remarks, but unless you've got a world class player put 2 men on anyone and they will struggle to get involved.
I dont know what Viduka is like for Australia nor do i actually care, but to say he is sh@te cos if you put 2 men on him he struggles is stupid beyong comprehension.

FWIW i think Viduka is quite a lazy player when i have seen him, but on his day can be a very strong awkward forward.
His goalscoring record for Australia obviously isn't good enough, but if 2 men are marking him then its making space for other players.

That was an example of what he did during the Uruguay game. He is constantly used up front as a lone striker, and is easily thwarted by putting 2 blokes on him. I also think you are being harsh based on the team Australia were facing and the fact that it was away in a hostile atmosphere.
I think its a good result that gives Australia every chance to make the finals.

I'm not really up on the Australian national team but from what your telling me if 3 coaches have played with just the 1 up front (including one as well respected as Hiddink then maybe they feel the midfield wouldnt be strong enough with just 4 players.

Uraguay have some decent players and playing anywhere in south america is difficult so the 1-0 scoreline is not too bad.
I agree about it being a joke the aussies having to playoff against south american opposition.
It makes no sense, it wont happen next time as they are in the asian section i think, but its a bit of a joke that the african and central american sides are guaranteed positions in the world cup.
U.S.A and Mexico's qualifiers are almost as easy as the aussies imo.

Yes the bloody Aussies got into Asia.  Us poor Kiwis look on in envy, its been a long-held dream for a lot of football fans in New Zealand to join Asia, just as Australia have done.  Imagine actually playing regular football to a reasonable level.

I live in hope (but not a lot) for the day when Asia gets split in half, west and east, and East Asia picks up Oceania.  I'm not sure if this'll be good or bad for the island nations, but football in NZ is crying out for a move like this.  We'll never progress without it I'm afraid.  I mean, look at what Uruguay are achieving with only 3 1/2 million people - and why?  It is not just a great history, and an absolute love of the game, though those things of course help.  It's because they REGULARLY play against some of the best teams in the world.

Football in NZ is going down the pan mate, and this move by Australia is just going to make things worse. In all fairness though, Australia was always superior in Oceania, and they had to move to progress the sport in Australia.

Rugby and to a lesser exteny Rugby League are by far the dominat football codes, while Football has been completely forgotten about.

Oh well at least the All Blacks are doing well, go Uruguay!

Im from Auckland originally mate, and all the Polynesian boys play either league or rugby. I played for my local football club, but Union and League were the dominant sports by far where I lived.

He's there to do a job. If for the last 6 years he has had 2 markers on him, I don't understand why he can't open his mouth and say something. But that's only one example, and we have been focusing solely on this one aspect of his game. I can go on and on about other areas as well, and people can pick at my posts, but they are still yet to show me why Viduka should be captain over Harry, and better yet, why he should still be in the squad.

But based on what i have seen in the Premiership and the lack of quality in the Australia squad, he would be a certain starter for me if your talking about ability.

To have him captain is a bit of a worry though as he is hardly a player who will get the team going or rally the troops as they say.

But for you to suggest the Harry Kewell would be a good captain is a crazy statement imo.

It surprises me when managers pick captains based on how many caps they have got or how long they have been in the team.

A captain should be a leader and a motivator...i dont think Kewell or Viduka have anything like them qualities.
