I think Luis Garcia has to play support striker from now onwards....no more on the left or right wing.

Luis Garica is better than raul....better than torres......  :buttrock

Spain have to thank us for getting into the world cup finals.......

I dont think we will be signing Vicente not unless Gonzalez gets refused a permit 2nd time round. Weve already agreed a fee for him. Cant wait to see him play.

Luis Garcia scores a flukey hat trick and you all love him now, the lads a waste of space.

I am one of his critics.. but come on, give the lad a break....  A hat trick is rarely flukey.

Garcia IMO, in his last 3-4 games has shown great improvement, and for this you have to give the lad some credit.

Guys, along with a couple of others (me included if I do say so myself) Leon has been one of the most consistent supporters of Garcia on the forum. In a previous Luis Garcia thread, (about number 94 out of 145 I think) he wrote a long piece on the little Spaniard. He extolled his virtues and detailed how as a fan he can make your heart quicken with anticipation, make you jump from your seat with a moment of brilliance etc etc. He's more lyrical than me so if you've got the time you should read it, it was a good post.
Anyways, the point is that he is taking the mick. Obviously a hat-trick isn't and never can be a fluke. Obviously Garcia is not a waste of space. I've said it a million times he is a player who could become a true Anfield legend. A fantastic footballer who despite being totally unsuited to English football, constantly played out of position and derided by the faithful, still produces. It's not my stat but St Mike pointed out a couple of weeks ago that he is now Liverpools top scorer in the Champions League, ever. He doesn't even play upfront for us! Jeez the guy was a massive factor in us winning the CL last season.
Leon knows this. He has been saying it for long enough, read back through the threads.

Nah, He's quality, not great at tackling but look at the goals he gets - against juve last year, that header a week or so ago, he's useful to have in the team.

Another not accurate translation! this time an interview, he was the most requested man in the press room, as you would understand

LUIS GARCIA: "THE PREMIER MAKES YOU STRONGER"

- How can you sleep after a game like this?

- Using a pill. With all the joy and the tension, I couldn't get sleep, but forunately, with a pill I could properly rest

- Dig you take the ball to home?

---------

- Yes, I've kept it already and I had it signed by all the team mates. Puyol managed to look for it and ask it to the ref. I'll put it beside the ball with wich we won the CL, which I also have signed by all the Liverpool squad.

- You were so deadly, that you even made the assist to the Slovakians...

- I wanted to give the match a little emotion, because it was being too straight away. (don't take it literally, it's typical spanish joke response when you do this kind of mistakes)

- Now seriously, did you think at that moment that such an absurd mistake, would put down all the good work done?

- Yes. Evidently. After seeing how they got 2-1 with 40 minutes ahead, I saw the whole thing a little darker. FOrtunately, I did have the idea that with hard work and how we were playing, we'd carry the match on.

- Why did you want to shoot the penalty?

- I wanted to take out the fishbone from me. And I was sure I was going to score. But the mister is who decides, and there's no problem, everything is all right.

- What did your mates told you?

- NOthing in particular. The congratulated me because they knew it was an important match for me - the first one I started in the starting eleven, and that's something special. I had the liuck of scoring 3 goals, but the merit was of the whole team, that did an excellent work pressing upfront

- ¿Xavi (Bar$a) and Luis García know each other so well that play "by memory" (without thinking, like a machine)?

- (Laughs). Yes, even in the training sessions. We know each other since we were children in Barcelona and we always had great complicity. We understand each other with a simple glance and that in the pitch is a great advantage

- Now your career is going on, do you know already if you are left or right footed and where do you preffer playing?

- I always answer the same thing. I like to play between lines, behind the forward, because I like seizing the space I have there, and being near the area benefits my game. I think I 'm more left than right footed because I feel it so, but to be honest I have ease as well to kick with the right foot. .

- Playing in a foreign league has provided a plus to players like you or Xabi Alonso?

- May be. The fact of having players in other leagues makes us knowing new mentalities and concepts. The EPL is more forceful (1) , tougher (2), with more rythm, and that strenghtens you. There's no doubt it has benefit me to grow up as a footballer.

Sabre

(1) This word when applied to a footballer in Spain is a good thing, when applied to a police man is a bad thing

(2) As in, harder tackles.

I translated it because I want to read your comments about the last two questions. I know you'll like to hear that the premier strengthens :grinning: but the thing to comment here is his personal will of playing behind the striker.

Obviusly Gerrard must play no matter what, he's world class and more necessary than LG, but perhaps with a proper right winger , playing a single striker (Moro, Cisse, Crouch) with Luis Garcia as a "half striker" behind him, would be a good idea? your thoughts?
