I come back now from the bar.
Drummerphil: It was a Liverpool 5 - 1 Slovakia, the penalty was provoked by Luis Garcia too.
Luis Garcia has this brilliant moments that make you love him, but then he starts doing things that put your nerves on. He was in the middle, and decided to make an unexpected, unuseful pass to the keeper that became a perfect assist for Slovakia.
The first thought is that you cannot but congratulate a player that has made a hat trick, but I also reckon that this kind of mistakes will be paid dearly in a quarter of finals against Italy or England. Since he definitely can improve this mistakes (it's decissions!) we must remind him he's not Maradona. Anyway I liked more things from him than the goals. He broke their line defence with diagonal balls once and again. He didn't play as a classic winger, but like a "free role", (1)you could see him in the left, in the right, and sometimes as a second striker. Aragones has stated that he could be a perfect second striker after the match (and if a ball is to be wasted better on the area of the opponent than in the middle, right?), any thoughts about if this would work for Liverpool?
I was specially happy for Morientes, he headed well the cross of Vicente, he seemed very happy.
I won't rate Alonso, he did well, but cannot extract many conclussions from a game that it was already solved and with an opponent with the head dropped.
Well, seems that we'll be in Germany. Now the traditional overconfidence on the team, and the traditional failure in the critical moment. You'll see.
Xabi Alonso will be in the starting eleven in Bratislava, since Albelda got a yellow card. I think he'll be in the starting eleven of Germany. He has been so far, only a yellow card ban avoided to be in the starting eleven in previous match.

(1) Needless to say or right back did little forward runs and Albelda was his bodyguard, otherwise it would be a mess.
