In the forums I use to visit is quite offensive to speak in another language, since you don't say anything offensive... I'll bottomline the mates that you're complaining about nowadays presidency of the Spanish football, and as a proof of that, he reminds that Zaragoza, his team hasn't been granted with a penalty in a whole year and had 5 penalties against in the last weeks.

Zaragoza is a team I also appreciate Erica, but you know what's like Spanish football, the same thing that is penalty in the Bernabeu, it's not in the Romareda. Then we go out to international games with our squad and our players complain about bad refferees, it's just that the Madrid and Bar$a players are used to being favoured and it just doesn't happen that in the WC :;):

Sorry about my use of Spanish. For a moment I was a mad girl, and I needed to express my feelings in my own language. On the other hand, I fully agree with what you say on the second paragraph.

Of course, the person that I addressed my comment to understood perfectly.

check the retraction i made once i'd woken up, erica.  :)
and my mother tongue comes from latin too you know. (originally at least)  :;):

but i still like the image of Franco as a supporting striker, a much better use of his energies i would say.

Spain also won a European Championship in the 60's I think?

Pah. It was at home, against Russia, with a ref that was a friend, and with Franco presiding the match, that doesn't count.

The more I see of Garcia, the more I feel he is a player from another era.  That is not to say he is lazy, or sublime.  I just think that he has not had his natural game coached out of him.  In a high tempo, pressing type of a game players who don't play percentage football may often seem accident prone. I believe that he is the type of player people go to watch, errors, and incisiveness sometimes are just part of the same package.  My only caveat is that I would prefer to see him higher up the pitch, playing as a second striker.

That's his will too. After Analyzing what Luis Aragones did wid him in the hat trick game, I've realised this:

In the match preview, he appeared on the right, but that was only on paper, he was in the right when the other team had the ball, that's to say to defend. But when attacking he was a second striker, appearing and disappearing between lines at will.

Luis Aragones has called this "to play with a dead wing" that's to say, just have one proper wing, I'd say it worked.

It's obvious aswell that the old good Aragones rates Luis GArcia as a second striker. Tomorrow , he'll be playing the same "dead wing" thingy, and since LG has some pain the Aquiles heel (sp? (1) ) , It's Villa, who's going to play in LG's place. Villa is the typical "9" a pure striker.

So it seems that the formations thingy it's very relative, at least when it comes to Luis Aragones.

(1) Although this little pains are not to worry, because it's fixed with some days of rest, certainly that Aquiles heel (I don't know how you call it) it's a dangerous zone to have an injury, because when you get a serious injury on it, you can be out for 8 montjs. So it's best to be cautious

Garcia is on the bench as was Morientes but he came on and assisted Villa to make it 1-1 against Slovakia. Alonso also started

Alonso played the full 90 minutes :glare:
Think Rafa should play Hamann and Zenden on saturday, they are nice and fresh.

He played one bloody game. Hamann and Zenden? I know we're playing against Pompey but we shouldn't change things because of international break if it isn't necessary.

People went on about how Benitez makes too many chances and in the last two games we've fielded the same team and had a good balance. Why change it now? Hamann hasn't played well thus far this season in the Premiership.

Hamann's played fine when he's played.

However the first point you made is completely valid. The people who are suggesting playing Zenden and Hamann are the same people who are saying how stupid Rafa is for changing the team every week.

For what its worth though, i would play Zenden centrally inplace of Sissoko to try him out, but i'd leave The rest of the team as it is. Sissoko has had a few mares lately so i think its time he's rested instead of trying to play him through the bad form.

Dont get your knickers in a twist A.B.  :D
The weather conditions and the pitch was awful in that spain game last night, and I love Hamann and dont want him to leave in January he needs games, he is more than capable to play against shi.tty Pompey.
Plus weve got the Betis game next week, so Zenden in for Xabi.

To be honest, if there's a moment to apply rotations to the squad, it's right now, CIGGY has a point there, specially in the point that there's european competition later. The rotations issue was deeply discussed a while ago here, and many didn't like the idea, but I think we were in a bad moment of play then and we were quite biased by that.

I do believe in rotation. Osasuna is leader of Spain with not a brilliant squad and changing his line up every sunday. I don't like many rotations though, I preffer Rijkaard's rotations, who gives rest to a player at a time, once he leaves out Ronaldinho, another day Xavi...

Hamman can do well as a defensive midfielder, I learnt to love him in the game against the gunners last year.

I totally agree with that statement.

Rotation in todays game is totally necessary with the amount of games played and also the travelling involved.

But there where too many times last season where Rafa changed the majority of the team...or more than 3 players anyway.
Doing that means it takes the team time to gel together and by then the game can be lost or the confidence of some of the players disappears.
I hope there is not much of a change in the line up sat from the side selected for the previous 2 league wins.
