agreed
i spend lots of my times around Asia, including those with moslem as their major religion such as Indonesia and Malaysia

the people in both countries are very friendly, we spend evening in pubs, even in bar talking about shooting Bin Laden, Osama or Bali Bomber in their heads.

I would say the terrorists represent an ignorably percentage of the whole moslems in the world

The problem is, when it comes to natural disasters, there is not much you can do about it. Even though people are entitled to their opinions, I believe in God but there you go. Sometimes, faith gives people something to believe in and give them hope. You take the faith away, you will take a lot of people's hopes away as well.

However, the middle east is a perfect example and Northern Ireland is too that people who ardently follow these religions can cause many problems in the world as well.

Perhaps it's because they are afraid of the treatment they will receive from people who are ignorant of their religion, and label every Muslim person as a terrorist. You see it first hand, after 9/11 and the London bombings, hate crimes escalate massively.

I think its terrible that this has happened to those poor people.

But hang about LFC#1 they have been isolating themselves from westerners (in England) way before all these recent acts of terrorism started, so thats no excuse.

Exactly. I believe in God, a different God to the one Muslims, etc believe in. This isn't the problem. The problem is that certain people take religion and use it as an excuse to be ar*eholes to others. Why don't they take that energy and use it to make better lives for themselves and their families?
I would never dream of bombing the silly c*nts who would happily kill me and everyone on this board, just for daring to have different Gods.
Am I missing the point? Here I was thinking God (as we think of him, at least) was a loving, accepting, forgiving Lord. One who knows no limit to the love, compassion and patience he may show us. He wishes for us to love one another, honour, and do the right thing. THAT is what my God is about.
I can't understand anyone misreading that.
And what of the other religions? I am aware that the Mormons believe that there is a limit to the amount of people allowed to enter Heaven. They spend their entire lives in a state of discomfort on the off-chance that they may get into Heaven. Why would God be like that? I thought it was as simple as;if you're good, you go upstairs, if you're bad, you go downstairs. Evidently there are millions who disagree.
Where did the suicide bombers, etc, get the notion that God wanted them to murder thousands of people? What kind of God is that? I'm not being Blasphemous, but that sounds more like Satan to me. Why can't the fools realise that you have do good things, not bad? I'll tell you something for free;the stupid murdering b*stards will wish they hadn't done it now. (Assuming there is an afterlife.)

It's about time some people learnt a bit of compassion, love and common sense, and stopped turning every version of the holy book/scriptures into a license to kill.

I know it's nothing to do with the terrible Earthquakes in Asia, butI've just remembered an apt saying on the religion front, from a fantastic film called Dogma. I'll have to paraphrase it though, as I can't remember it word for word!!!!

"It's better to have ideas - you can change an idea. Beliefs are more difficult. People kill for beliefs. They die for them."

It's a pity these morons didn't have ideas, rather than beliefs.

Japan: 50 rescue workers
Turkey: five teams of rescuers and 11 tonnes of aid
Russia: 30 rescuers, sniffer dogs, special equipment

quite revealing isn't it? the USA - most powerful and richest nation on earth donates half of rio ferdinands weekly wage. the UK does a bit better but its still a fucking pittance.

Yeah the USA has no-where to stand but other than Australia no one else significantly donates more. The EU donate 3.5m but that is a shared pool of money between 25 member countries. Do the maths:

3.5m / 25 = 140K each

That puts the UK donation in perspective.

What you have to remember is the reason that Pakistan has lower donation levels than places such as Ethiopia is that Pakistan is a self sustaining country whose annual turnover is around 350 billion a year, compared with Ethiopia which is 50 billion.

They enough of a infra-structure to survive.

I'm not detracting from the loss suffered but monitary donations should be calculated on absolute need. And the fact of the situation is those figures quotes are cash donations not including aid in the forms of food, clothing and workers, etc

These idiots that kill, are exploiting a loophole in their religion to justify murder.

It will never stop i feel, but get worse. Terrorism has been around long before the USA etc took an interest in global affairs. It much like a bubble that has burst, it must run it course until like during the last two world wars, where it may be more appropriate to go to war fully.

mark my words, this is a distinct possibility. So i say to the men on here, get yourself fit just in case!!
