it's obviously tragic for anybody directly involved but it's not really going to make any difference to my life at all

the aid figures seem a bit p*ss poor though, especially as this is a chance for the US to dig deep and score some serious brownie points with the muslim world by helping them in their hour of need

it wont make any difference if the USA give loads of cash and supplies, the muslim world will take it, and still hate them

no browny points there at all for the americans.

They have the arduous task of clean up after new orleans etc, but no one bothers about that, thousands killed there.

death affects us all, we just do what we can. There's too much s'hit in the world at the moment, and the USA arent gonna make friends no matter what they do. Thats the top n bottom of it all

bit cynical ay judgey-boy? i'm sure most pakistanis would still hate the yanks but maybe just a little bit less than they currently do, which can only be a good thing

as for new orleans they've had loads of aid pour in for that, whereas in pakistan it looks likely that 30 times as many people will have been killed (in a country with a tiny fraction of the wealth of the usa)

maybe the yanks won't dig deep though, maybe they're all sitting there (especially dubya) thinking the earthquake was the work of god because the pakistanis won't behave like good ol' american christians. t0ssers.

In all fairness I'm sure we'll see fair more aid and donations coming from the countries mentioned by Andy above in the next few days.

It really just shows that we are truly de-sensitized from what we see on the television. The Tsunami, 9/11, London  bombings, as outraged as I was at 9/11 and the London Bombings, I couldn't truly connect with the people that were involved in it and sometimes i feel guilty about that.

very nice and very communal. you dont get that here in the UK, we could learn a thing or two

you do get it hear actually, well we do in London anyway, especially in area's with a high percenage or arab people.

The yanks have give over 100 million in aid, but it still wont make them popular in that part of the world.
The worst thing about mother nature dissasters is that they always happen in poor countries, its always difficult to get aid to the affected, and the areas are always over populated, which makes it a bigger problem all in all.
Its the poor kids I feel for when you see parents screaming cause their children have died I hate seeing images of that, hate it.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

True judge, but if you look at the other side of the coin then the Americans have given the Israelis billions and billions a year to help them fund their ongoing war against the Palestinians.

Whay have they done this, well it's simple, votes. Their are millions of Jews living in the US and naturally they are going to vote the government back in if they continue to fund the Zionist state of Israel.

peewee wrote:I live in a muslim country and to be honest i was surprised when i got here, my knwledge of Muslims was restricted to the ones living in the UK, the vast majority of which are anti socal and like to live amongst each other and not integrate, and then blame every one else for being isolated.

however in Malaysia the muslims are genuinly nice people, no one tries to force their religion on you, they just get on with their lives, at the moment its fasting month and they have some willpower here, daylight is about 5.30 am to 7 pm and in tropical heat they manage to last all day without even drinking water.

the point i am trying to make is that not all muslims are bad people, there are extremists who tarnish the religion as there are with any religion, even catholics and protestants have terrorists but we dont tarnish the whole religion.

however that said i am the type of person who doesnt really care about disasters as long as they dont affect me, my family of my friends. if i worried about every bad thing in the worls i would spend all day worrying and its not worth it

But you have to ask why some of them are anti social. It's not necessarily their own fault. Naturally they will initially seek people of their own race for familiarity, but they don't necessarily want to isolate themselves from westerners.

Perhaps it's because they are afraid of the treatment they will receive from people who are ignorant of their religion, and label every Muslim person as a terrorist. You see it first hand, after 9/11 and the London bombings, hate crimes escalate massively.

How can they integrate in that sort of environment? When naive/ignorant people look at them in a distrusting and hateful manner?

I have many Muslim friends, and as you say peewee they are not bad people, unfortunately people misunderstand them largely due to ignorance and lack of education about Islam and their culture in general.

i think that the jews have been persecuted enough (see 2nd world war), and considering that alot of jews are serving senators, its not surprising they get US funding, much like certain arab states fund terrorism etc.

jews are entitled to defend themselves, although i dont always agree with their methods.

its an age old problem, that will eventually lead to another world war im afraid. Anyone, who thinks not, are kidding themselves.

back to topic, i hope the pakistani kids are ok. its not fair anyone should die, but not kids.

thats why there is no god
