Why do we never get the credit we deserve? - It's a joke.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I would agree with Mick and Wolly, although perhaps I would estimate that there was a tiny bit more daylight between us and Chelsea than the two lads credit us.

We certainly were the more positive team, but Chelsea really set their stall out to get a draw or even a sneaky win, and if truth be told, we only managed a couple of have chances.

Chelsea played the way Gerrard Houllier's Liverpool played when we went to places like Barcelona under Houllier.

Chelsea have a bit of a mental complex about Liverpool. We are probably the only team in Europe that currently unnerve Chelsea. Thats an amazing thing.

(once again I don't think either were stonewall penalties but both have been given many times)

Mick I think thats :censored: mate.

Both of them where blatent. Gallas's hand was up around Cisse's shoulders, it wasn't by his side and secondly not only was Sami brought down when through on goal, he was brought down from behind.

If Im honest, I think the handball was accidental, But I've seen them given plenty of times, also the reason his hand was thier anyway was because he was pulling someones shirt.

Double wammy!!!

We outplayed them, but I would have liked to have seen more chance around the goal mouth.  On a number of occasions the ball was crossed with no-one running onto the ball.  (Hammans little dribble and Stevies free kicks mainly).

But you have to say that is probably the performance of the season.  For the first time Peter Crouch had players around him, which hasn't happened in the league yet this year which made us a much stonger offensive unit.

Here are my scores for the players..

Reina - 7.5 - made one howler for the corner, but apart from that was brilliant
Finnan 7 - Solid wihthout being amazin
Carragher - 8 - Normal commited performance
Hypia - 7.5 - May be slow but reads the game brilliantly and causes problems in there penalty box
Traore - 6 - Tackled well BUT distribution appauling, gave the ball away all night
Cisse - 5 - Didn't get involved
Alonso - 7.5 - Picked the pockets of their world class wingers everytime, distribution not quite up to his normal exceptional standard
Gerrard - 7.5 - In and out.. when he was in the game brilliant
Garcia - 5 - Givesd the ball away too many times, but did give Crouch options
Hamman - 8 - The guy is still world class, Love seeing him play
Crouch - 7.5 -Won nearly everything and kept hold of possiosn well, becoming a very valuable player to Liverpool but needs to score goals
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Sorry I can't go along with some of the lads on here who say we "outclassed" them and all, but we were definately the better team in my totally honest opinion. Are we as good a team as them? Probably not over the course of the season. Have we got as good a squad as them? Absolutely nowhere near to be fair.
So why is it when they are the invincibles, the best team in the country, the team that is so much better than everybody else that the season is already over and we can get the better of them that we don't get any credit in the media? That's three games now and counting since they've scored a goal against our defence. That's a defence containing the much maligned Djimi Traore. "It's 'cos we never had any width mate. Duff and Robben weren't on from the start, it would've been different then".
Well they were on from the start last night and where were they? Chelsea had a full strength team out and we more than matched them. Either the Hyppia penalty claim or the handball could easily have been given (once again I don't think either were stonewall penalties but both have been given many times) and I thought we deserved to win.
If Mourhinho is the "special one" what does that make Rafa then? Peter Crouch anyone? "Seven million mate, you're 'avin a laugh aint ya?" Makes Drogba at 24 mill' start to look a shade pricey if you ask me.

Some nice points Bigmick, agree with a lot and would love ChelseaForever to comment on some of it. As for the media attention (credit) i am not so sure. I spent an amusing lunch hour today on a CFC forum and they where complaining about the fact that the media will not report anything bad about 'their darling LFC'.

I don't live in the UK anymore and don't have any close friends that do, so i can't judge whether this is justified. But over here (malaysia) there is only one team that gets treated better (than us, IMO)  in the press, and that is the Manshites.

chelski wankers and LFC fans can't be both right can they?

Feck 'em. All the press cack suits us down to the ground. Think about it;if the papers start saying "oooh, LFC are fantastic, they made Sh*tski look rubbish", then we'll get an influx of glory hunters from the Home Counties, etc. We've got enough plastic support robbing tickets off true fans as it is. I say "thanks" tabloid t*ssers. You're making it slightly easier for me to get tickets to the matches now!

One of the members made a great point, the same thing I was moaning about initially. And that was the fact that Alonso got booked on his first offence while Carvalho made about 7 offences!unbelieveable!

agree with that, i think we are probably the only team in England that Chelsea are weary off, when the play Man Utd and Arsenal they look far more positive, hopefully this a good omen for the future.

the two incidents with Hyppia and Gallas were both stonewall penalties, Drogba simply kicked sammi's leg from behind with a very rash challenge, and Gallas clearly moved his arm towards the ball, at no point did he try to move his arm out of the way, a blatant deliberate hand ball.

It doesn't matter weather its accidental or deliberate.

The rule states controlling the ball with your hand.

If it hits you're hand/arm its a pentaly against. Thats that. I don't give a :censored: weather the balls wacked at their hand from two yards, if it hits your hand, thats that.
