i agree 100% with this

I like the look of this one! It will give us two different brands of football, two different styles and that is exactly what I like in a game.

Birmingham have picked up a little and will fancy this. We know they are going to come turn in a high-energy performance and make life hard for anyone at St Andrews.

Liverpool so far have taken a more cautious approach, shall we say, which I have to admit I find completely baffling.

I said last week before the United game that I couldn't work out what Rafa Benitez was trying to do, and the 0-0 draw has made it even harder to work out.
I really did think they would be more aggressive, being at Anfield, but that didn't happen and it has led to a debate as to whether or not the Premiership is boring.

Is it heck! Serie A and even La Liga have plenty of tactical stalemates regularly and I still maintain we have the most entertaining league in the world.

But I have to admit, Rafa is not helping the public perception with the way he approaches games. Yes United are a top side and for many teams a point against them would be a reason to celebrate, but this was Liverpool, the European champions, playing at Anfield!

In the end, the game was there to be won and instead they were more concerned with being organised and hard to break down. And I do think that is having an effect on the players. It's almost as if they don't know when to attack and when to sit back.

It is no surprise they are struggling for goals. One up front is OK providing he gets the right support, but goalscoring is a service industry and if you don't make chances, if you don't get crosses in, you don't score goals. That is Liverpool to a tee at the moment.

I love the tactical side of the Premiership as much as anyone, but I hope at St Andrews Liverpool come out with a gameplan and for once on a Saturday evening we aren't sitting there scratching our heads at just what Rafa is trying to achieve.

I would like to say in rafas defence that if the luck had slightly favoured us then all 3 draws would have been wins and rafa and the lads would be getting talked about as contenders
Things change so quickly in football, come next sunday night rafa could be getting all the plaudits for being a great tactician who has the measure of the special one
But I can see where your coming from DAV, all I can say is time will tell and I think we should hold back untill Rafa has all his cards in place

Did you not notice ,that Dav commenced his post by stating he agreed with Charlie Nicholas 100% ? .

I'm suprised to see a long standing member such as Dav giving more support to Charlie Nicholas than Rafa . Thats bound to inflame some people .

Rafael Benitez is confident his side's defensive stability will provide the platform for success this season.
The Reds' boss is well aware that many people are preferring to focus on the fact that Liverpool have scored only one goal this season and not about their four clean sheets, but he is adamant a rock solid back-line is crucial for any side harbouring hopes of a title challenge.

Benitez has also promised to work with his players on the system he wants to employ to strike a balance between solid defending at one end and goalscoring at the other.

"I know we need improvement in attack, but we are better in defence. If you want to build a strong team you must always start at the back," insists Benitez.

"The quality of the players is the most important thing. You must know what you have and work with it.

"The formation depends on the players you have and who you're playing. We play 4-2-3-1 a lot. People say it's 4-5-1 when you don't have the ball.

"Chelsea play similar, but for them it becomes 4-3-3 when they have the ball and attack. But the system isn't that important. The players' movement is what makes it work.

"You don't score a lot of goals just by playing a lot of strikers. What you need is a lot of players who are capable of getting into the box.

"In the Champions League, Chelsea used Robert Huth as a striker in the last 10 minutes. They had four players as strikers at the end. Did that mean they scored goals? No. They still couldn't score.

"Tell me, how do Chelsea win their matches? They control the game in defence first and then they have good forwards to build attacks. They win most games 1-0 or 2-0. United and Arsenal do the same. They defend properly first and don't allow their opponent many opportunities. That's what we're trying to achieve.

"We have the defensive part better now, but for sure we must improve more in attack. It can take time to get the balance right but at this moment we are heading the right way. I know we can beat anyone.

"Manchester United have conceded only once this season but when they came to Anfieldthey were afraid of what we could do to them. They paid us a lot of respect.

"We know we need to win more games, but the first thing you must do is control the game inorder to make chances."

Much has been said and written this week about Liverpool's failure to win more matches this season - but the boss has heard it all before.

"In my first season in charge of Valencia we went 13 games without losing a match. There were seven draws in those games. Everyone spoke about the number of games we drew and how the team needed to win," he said.

"At the end of the season, we were league champions."

. I dont come from liverpool but does that make me more less a supporter? No. Season ticket? Yes. So i spend more than you to follow the team and my commitment is stronger as i have to work everything else around liverpool. So, get anoter warning, and go and get a ticket for goodison!
