I don't think Benitez is going to break the bank for Joaquin, he has never broken the bank for any player and I don't think it will be Joaquin. We need 20 million at the least to pay for Joaquin.

no way, Jauquin is a far superior player to schweinsteiger in every department IMO. He has more skill, pace, intelligence, power you name it, he's deffo one of the best in his position in world football right now, the same cannot be said of Schweinsteiger, who looks a good prospect but Jauquin is already a world class player.

back to the topic, i have to agree with stu on splashing the cash on Jauquin (if possible). In fact i was saying exactly the same thing to my brother the other day

the guy is superb and any defence in the world would have trouble trying to deal with him, he has great crossing abilty and is also terrific at cutting in from the wings, would love to see him in a Liverpool shirt but i couldnt really see it happening to be honest.

Schweinsteiger was nominated for world young player. but is more of straight forward offensive midfielder than a thowback winger.

no doubt,sanchez is talented. its his consistency level which goes unnoticed as he doesn't play for Liverpool, like Garcia inconsistency get noticed all too often in this forum.

sanchez has an exciting 10 mintutes in every game. but nevr run a match like a £20 m man should

take our match in cl, he woke up in the 2nd half for about 7 or 8 minutes then went back to sleep.

Stu I agree with you that Joaquin is the best option available. He has been terrorising defenders for 3 seasons now. He is very strong, lightening quick and has godd skills. If Chelsea wasn't around we could maybe secure his services. If we move for him, his club and his agent will definately try to provoke a bidding contest with Barcelona, Man U, Chelsea and Real. And I think no team in the world can beat Chelsea in an auction. They don't need him, but they will sign him anyway just to stop us from getting a good player.

Good opening post Stu ... I agree with most, if not all of it. I too have lost faith in Cisse. Yes - he's got pace but I haven't really seen anything else that's "world class" about him (except possibly the haircuts ;-) ) ... I realise the guy has come back from an horrific injury but you're right - we can't continually use that as a defence for sub standard performances from him and as you point out - Warnock has had 3 (I think) leg breaks and the impact he's made to the first team has been much more dramatic (why sub him against Manure at the weekend

- but that's another topic).

Im not sure about the whole Joaquín thing as I have only seen him play once and wasn't that impressed but I do fear splashing 20M on one player , only to have it blow up in our faces yet again (OK so we didn't blow 20M before but Cisse , Duoif and Daio were previous expensive mistakes). Once bitten , twice shy etc ....

We aren't talking about a Cisse here. Or Diouf. Someone with "potential".

We're talking about the worlds best. Right, we currently have no right winger. Playing players out of position isn't the answer. So going from having nothing there, to the best in the world is certainly an improvement i wouldn't mind seeing.

How good would you say Gerrard and Alonso are in the middle?

Well i can assure you, Joaquin is certainly as good a player as those two if not better only he's a winger.

With Joaquin in there Gerrard and Alonso, even i could play left midfield an it would be the one of the strongest midfields in the world.

Even if we were to believe this to be the case Stu, surely you would concede that the left-midfield slot would marginally at least, be the slightly weaker link in this midfield four?

joaquin is a phenomenal player. whether or not he'd be worth blowing an entire budget on though is another matter. it would certainly be a statement of intent though if we did manage to get him.

nice to see him dropping a few hints last week aswell about wanting to play for us. :oops:

you make an important point though about the difference between us and chelsea. they have quality wide men who can actually go past people and support the main striker on a regular basis. for us, i think the best two to do this are FSP and kewell (see arsenal at home last season). however we still need 1 if not 2 quality wide men to give us more attacking options.

sorry stu...I disagree. We are very impressive in CL and not so in Primiership. I wonder why? I am afraid last seasons result will continue. I have beleive in Liv players an dthe manager. The way we play is what matters. Attitude and performance of players. Sometimes splendid and sometimes shitty Consistensy nil . These are my worries. We have the force we are not using it. AC Millan is a great club. Seeing us in the 2nd Half, AC Millan would have felt as if the've seen ghost. Who would ever imagine Liv came back. We played like that. But we drew as against Midlesborough Why? I dont see the logic. Thats what worried me.In fact I am not worried of the draw as against Man U. But I feel Sunderland played very well and we were not that good in that game. The set piece goal too is not consistent.

I cannot admit what Arsene or Morinhoe commented against Liv. When we won against Chelsea. Jose said the best team lost.

Arsene commented we are just lucky to be in the CL.

These fellows dares to comment because of our own bad display in Primiership games. We have big matches coming our way. If we play like this....I dont know. Whereas we console ourselves when we play against teams like Sunderland that they played well and we 've scored 1 goal. Whereas when we play against teams like Man U we again console ourselves by saying we manage to keep clean sheet. When willl we console ourselves we scored 2/3 goals.

Do you know each time I look at the highlights and goals scored during the weaks matches, I yern and look forward for Liv goal. Our strikers / Stevie G / Riise scoring. . And every time I feel disappointed. i want to see Liv strikers lead the top scorers list.

I know patients is virtue.... and Hope drives our life. I keep hoping ....
