Panic on the streets of liverpool! - Benitez goes to the wire.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'll be honest...... I'm worried. No Owen's fine with me. Yeah he'll get the toon a dozen or so goals & might squeeze them into the champions league with match winning performances time after time, but can he stand at 6ft 11" & head the ball wide? No he bloody cant!
There's panic on Merseyside today, well one half anyhoo. The toffos cant believe there eyes. Oh no defender either, when I heard we were after Bouma I let out a sigh of relief. A good solid defender, can score the odd goal & the right side of thirty. Then Villa signed him! To me this smacks of indecision on either the boards or Benitez's part. we needed to move fast because all the other teams are, so what do we do. Dawdle while others run.
The problem is teams who where behind us in terms of quality are getting better while we stagnate. Dont get me wrong Crouch played well this evening, but ressies on a Tuesday & champions league on a Wednesday are worlds apart!
24 Hours to go & I dont know about you but I'm cacking myself. YNWA

Don't worry buddy, panicking is for Geordies. We're Euro champs( its true) and the manager is happy with what we have and what we have lined up. We are going to pay for people tomorrow, maybe too much, but we do need a right sided midfielder and the club we are trying to trade with know this, it will all be ok. Don't cack yourself.

Benitez has always said, if he can get the right players at tghe right price he'll do business, if not he'll wait. There is a budget to be kept too as well

And enuff of this nonsense now ppl .. get a grip

No need to panic.
I think Liverpool are being very wise in the transfer market. Rafa is not only building a team for this season, but also one for the next 5 - 10 years.
If we are missing out on these transfer targets, then you have to ask yourself why? It is because these players are looking for easy options. Most players will jump at the chance to play for Liverpool, but don't have the stomach for the fight. Most would rather be a star for Villa or NU than to try and break into a Liverpool team.
We need players of the right mentality, and I aplaud the board for holding out for them.

just becasue we dont have a full squad where every player is one of the most expensive doesnt mean that we are getting worse. We won biggest prize last year with a squad lesser off than thisn one so surly we can emulate last years success. Please oh please will you retard newbies stop setting up threads like this one saying your casking yourself. If your gonna cack yourself then do it in your own time and keep it to yourself. If you have enough brains to open your eyes youll see that we are building a squad for the future.

Some people seem to forget the Valencia team, without any super stars, who turned us and many more clubs over a couple of years ago. The game plan then was almost unbeatable and the Boss is sticking with it.
I love Michael Owen and if he had to go anywhere then Newcastle is the best place, at least they've got true supporters up there and they deserve a good run. Hope he does well - he owes us nothing.

At the end of the day I'm still happier as a Liverpool supporter than anything else.

Get a life gaunt and a braincell while your at it.

Ok so its not the news you wanted to hear but heres some anyway.

Liverpool have completed the signing of former Manchester United rookie Ramon Calliste.

The Welsh youngster was released by the Old Trafford outfit and had trial spells with clubs in England and Scotland before linking up with Rafa Benitez's European champions.

A goal in a reserve team match against Newcastle United helped strengthen his case for a permanent deal at Anfield and Benitez was sufficiently impressed to hand a one-year contract to the 19-year-old.

A lively forward, Calliste was rated highly by United but was unable to make the grade in Manchester.

The teenager will be striving to make an impact on Merseyside after making a rare transfer move from United to Liverpool.

Joining Calliste at Anfield is Besian Idrizaj, with the Austrian sealing a two-year deal with The Reds after impressing on trial.

Idrizaj, who has moved on from Linz, is looking forward to the chance to shine on Merseyside.

"I have always been a Liverpool fan and it is a dream come true to play for them," he told the club's website.

"If you get a chance to go to Liverpool on trial then you have to take it. You cannot ingore a trial with the reigning Champions League winners. I would even have swam across the channel just to take part."
