It's unrealistic to think that we can sign Gallas, because Chelsea wouldn't be giving a good player to a rival.

The only way Gallas is going to leave is if Barcelona are interested.

It is a shame that Milito is not coming as this was Rafa's No.1 target and the defender he wanted to partner Carra. We all know Hyypia has been great but once your legs start to go...

There is not much available in the EPL - I don't see either King or Gallas coming and not too sure about Upson. It is a shame as it would be a bonus in that they don't need much in the way of a settling in period.

I think Rafa will get a CB from La Liga in the end. Apparantely though Barca and other clubs are also interested in Andrade so that one will be tough. It is a bit frustrating really as we are desperate for a classy centre back but other clubs are as well and the clubs with said classy centre backs want to hang on to them. I don't want it to go down to 4th or 5th choice on Rafa's shopping list. It is just about being patient, which is all the harder as we have been spoilt with the number of new players and excitement of being linked with many different players since becoming the Champions of Europe.

What about Metzelder from Dortmund??

We were linked with him in the past. He's a cracker player when fit but can be injury prone, don't know how he was for injuries last season.

Dortmund are still in debt and would probably offload. However maybe the lack of interest in Metzelder from other clubs is not a good sign - sounds like a bit of the German version of Woodgate. Anyone know what his injury situation is now??

He's probably the most talented German defender out there.

But he's very injury prone. From March 2003 to December 2004, he didn't make one bundesliga appearance. He even considered retiring. Cold wet winters nights in England won't go well with his achilles tendon injury.

jorge andrade could be a useful addition did anyone see his goal tonight against newcastle pretty impressive, and in defense he's strong, quick and can play very comfortable on the ball unlike hyypia who sometimes can't get rid of the ball quick enough. andrade should cost us bout 5 mill but i would not like to see this as a swap deal with baros going the other way like reports say

He wants 120k a week and Man Utd dont want to pay that, what makes you think we will? What makes you think Man Utd would let him go to us? Are you not aware of the rivalry between us and Man Utd?

andrade should cost us bout 5 mill but i would not like to see this as a swap deal with baros going the other way like reports say

TribalFootball report that Deportivo don't want a swap, they want 10 million euros for Andrade.

Baros will not be sold to Villa, if he were why would we bench him in order to prevent him from being cup-tied? Villa aren't playing in Europe so it doesn't make sense.

People seem to have forgotten the own goal he scored against us, and at the same time lamenting him as a world class defender. Lets hope that was a one-off situation.
