Michael owen - Swap for figo?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Thu Mar 04, 2004 3:07 pm

just read a report from a well respected spanish football reporter which claims that real madrid are willing to offer liverpool luis figo plus 25m for michael owen in the summer. remember this is not confirmed but if it were to be true it sounds like quite a good deal to me. figo's contract is up next season anyway and he can solve the right sided problem. i don't want michael to leave by any means but i can see his point of view in that he wants regular champions league football.

We'd have to spend the money on a new striker to get our goals and how old is Figo?

i think he's 31. anyway it's not about age it's about quality on the pitch and he's still got it in abundance.

Thats pure newspaper nonsense.

When will people learn that mid season newspaper stories are almost 99.9% made up either by journalists looking for a story or an agent stiiring the s##t.

Figo will most likely stay in Spain if he leaves Real, or go to Italy (probably Inter or AC Milan).

Gimme a break. Figo will never leave real madrid, not till he dies. He has always been loyal to real and i sincerely doubt he will want to come to england at all. :(
the best is yet to come..

Figo may have no choice.Real are a ruthless club.Glamour boys like him would only move to London though I reckon.

As great as his skills are, I don't think Figo would be suitable as a Premiership player. Anyway, he is already 31 and has been having more injury problems this season. Although still world-class, Figo is past his prime and if Real Madrid wants to buy Owen, we should take the cash and find a replacement or reinforce other positions in the squad.

I heard it was Figo, Posh Spice and 20 million in order to prize Owen away? Can anyone confirm this?
