Now everybody's calmed down, - Seriously will we beat chelsea?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We all got caught up in the euphoria after the goalless draw in Italy but will we get past Chelski? I think we will and here's a couple of reasons why.
1. Chelski have seriously p!ssed off the football authorities and everyone in the game with their attitude this season. After the Barcelona incident I have told anyone who will listen that whatever, they WILL NOT WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. They won't be allowed to. Don't be in the least bit surprised if we get a crucial dodgy penalty/offside just when we need it against them. You can't ride roughshod over UEFA and the authorities.
2. They have the look to me of a team that's going "over the top". The famous impregnable defence is leaking goals now and without Robben, Duff looks a tired player.
3. We have two top players coming back in Alonso and Cisse. Top players, fresh as a daisy.
4. Louis Garcia. He will score in one of the two matches.
5. Stevie Gerrard. Cometh the hour, cometh the man. He owes us and he will deliver.
6. Lady luck. We are due some good, they are due some bad. TWO deflected goals against Bayern at crucial times, their luck has to run out soon.

My prediction- Chelski 2-2 Liverpool.

                     Liverpool 2-0 Chelski.

Gotta say I'm a little less confident about  AC Milan in the final but that's another story.

We can beat Chelsea, no question about it.

Chelsea are the better team. there's no debating that, but I just have a funny feeling about this tie.

It just seems to me that the powers that be would very much like Chelski to be brought down a peg or two. Anybody who thinks they are above all this sort of thing and influencing outcomes of random events would never cross their minds should watch the next World Cup draw.

to be perfectly honest bigmick, the fact that we are away first has convinced me that we will get through this tie. the fact that we will know what we need to achieve infront of our own fans will be a massive bonus for us.

chelsea have been far from convincing in europe recently. in their last four games they have conceded 9 goals. they played superbly for 20 minutes against barca but for the rest of the tie were completely outplayed. they also had to revert to long ball against bayern (successfully) and got a couple of lucky deflections.

of course evryone will make chelsea favourites which once again will play into our hands. mourihno should be running scared. in one off games when benitez HAS to get a result, he does. he's the master at it.

We can definatly beat chelsea. In fact i feel alot more confident about the games against them than i ever did before BL or Juve. If our lads play their best and we have a little bit of luck i believe we'll easily win.

Gerrard is going to be so determind to win this one i think he will play as if its the last game he will ever play. Mohrinio is probably going to start more romours of gerrard going to chelsea next season to try and affect the teams moral. Hopefully none of our lads will be reading the papers or talking to the press until after these games.

The theory that playing away first is an advantage is completely subjective as the statistics suggest otherwise. If you examine this season's Champions League knockout rounds carefully, the teams who played home first seem to advance more than those who play away first. Even us, where we played both Leverkusen and Juventus at home first, so who knows.

I know it goes against the form books and every pundits prediction but I have a gut feeling that we will beat Chelsea. Can't explain it but had the same feeling against Juventus. I think we will actually win the CL this year. Again don't know why, just have a feeling

If it was a one off I'd be pretty confident ,but over two legs ?

A score draw at their place and a clean sheet at Anfield will do the trick but they are so effin' jammy ,I'm nervous about this one .
