Ahhh....but Henry has scored 22 goals this season compared to Baros' 9.  And I think Henry would be a more prolific goalscorer, would he not, regularly scoring +20 a season.

Nobody can question Baros' work rate, but he is just not a striker!  An althlete yes, but not a striker.  We NEED a striker who can score +20 goals a season regularly - we need an Owen, Henry, Shearer, Eto'o, Rush or Fowler.

We are just not scoring enough goals.

His failure to score from two 1 on 1's with the keeper shows an alarming lack of confidence or class.
He's never seemed short of confidence so I'm thinking it must be class . Almost any striker in the prem would have scored at least once from two such golden opportunities.

the instinctive shot he had from outside the box just before the second one on one is exactly what he needs to do more of. i don't understand how one minute he can hit a powerful snapshot like that that just misses and the next minute lose composure again when one on one.

bizarre...

Point is with players like these we wouldn't be challenging for anything in the near future. Have u seen the many youngsters coming through at Arsenal? Then u take a look at us......

Yeah...he can run all day long, but that doesn't make him a "killer".  Yesterday proved it for me that he isn't good enough to be classed as a striker - he seems to do better on the right wing!

hit the nail on the head there andy.

baros is an instinctive player. his goal against norwich at anfield earlier in the season was a prime example of this. so was his bicycle kick against newcastle.

when he has to think about what he's going to do inside the area, he seems to get caught in two minds for some reason.

someone also needs to check his brain. his moment of stupidity means we will possibly have no recognised striker in our next two league games.

To be fair, the second 1 on 1 was a lucky save by Martin.... that would have beaten 90% of keepers.

Give the lad a break...  WE WON!!!!!!

Support your team, don't rip into them for the sake of it... If we lose you slag them off and now we win and you have a go as well..

Act like true supporters and support the whole team....
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

i don't see it as a lucky save, i see it as a bad miss for a striker of his standing. martin was already on the floor and committed to going the other way. there was an obstacle the size of a size 11 boot between baros and the goal and he hit it.

we'll have to agree to disagree.. the way I see it Baros left the EFC defense for dead, stuck Martin on his ****** and just as it was bout to pass him he managed to get his leg in the way... he did most of that move to perfection...

There are better strikers out there in the big bad world of Football, but we haven't got them.  Baros is a competent player who gives his all, 100% all the time.. if that was true for the whole team I think we would be better off.

thats the frustrating thing, he did the hard part really well, he timed his run perfectly and his pace left the defence for dead... again.

I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading
Tackle aside - Baros had a very good game
He did almost get caught in two minds with the first chance
But the second was a bloody good save
If it had been at our end - and Jerzy had stopped Cahill
we'd all have bben raving about how good the goalkeeping was
the lad was head and shoulders above most others in Europe at the recent Championships - given the right service & glueing his head upright :D - he was class

I can't believe some people are saying he's not a good striker

Some of the games he's not scored in was the same as Owen last season
You can be the best in the world - but if the service isn't their - you won't score

Alright - he could have had a hatrick yesterday
other days - he scores hatricks
The most important thing is - he's getting in the positions
He's terrorising defences - and some of the time - it's not from a killer pass - it's from his own skill at turning the man and then driving down on goal

I think the lads been playing well for us recently
I wish some other players had been putting in as much effort as him, Gerrard and Carragher

typical reaction thread, no doubt the person who created it will make another one praising Baros ability and work rate when he has a good game and scores.

Baros will come back from suspension and score many goals in the last 5 games. Mark my words.

AND

he will be really fired up for the CL fixtures now that he is missing out on domestic action.

FACT IS
if we are going to progress in europe we need milan baros

milan baros is a good striker with lots of skill, yes he can play bad games, but so can Zidane, Henry, Ronaldo etc.

SUPPORT BAROS, SUPPORT THE TEAM
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.
