He is a quality player.  Under no circumstances should we sell him.

So he had a bad season.  A lot of players did.  I think a few of the players will show some real form next season now we have a new manager with new tactics and hopefully better man management skills.

I'm convinced Riise will reap the benefit.  We've all seen what he can do, this might be his year again like the way 2002 was.

He's had two and a half bad seasons, but as you say, alot of players did.

For me he's got everthing in his locker to become a superb player for us. He's definately improved on his defending which used to be suspect. Imo he's now very solid. I think if he can combine his defensive and attacking abilities we have one hell of a player.

If we're trying to develop a pacy, attacking side that can worry the best of teams, we should keep Riise.
If we want to turn into a mid-table selling club that doesn't know its ****** from its elbow, we should sell him.

If we're talking about playing more attacking football, he'd be the first defender in my side every week.

Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Owen, Cisse, Baros, Gerrard, Kewell and Riise...that's potentially half the outfield players on the park at one time, all stunning going forward.

Winning football comes from playing to your squad's strengths. Sitting back and lobbing balls over the top doesn't wash anymore, and (as we've seen) gets us f**king nowhere.

 I remember playing for DOW Jrn's and we played some team called SNACC, they attacked us so much, 6/7 men up all the time, final score DOW - 24 - SNACC - 0

Attacking football isnt always the best option, sometimes u must defend, semi final 1st leg UEFA cup ring any bells? If we would have attacked there, I dont believe our treble would have happened

Riise exactly a good player of Liverpool becoz of his nice footwork and fire-free kick and the strong and pace foot play. Those who are gonna to say throw him out of anfield is a idiot. :p

I would like to say 'yeah,we should keep him' but not 'yeah,we should keep him on bench' becoz i rather starting him with 1st eleven but not the finnan.

And pls now is not the time argue bout which football style should we play and attacking football isn't perfect for every team...
Believe me...........when u look at what Greece had done last few days.

I agree , Riise would be in my starting eleven. Finnan plays at right back so I don't see why you've connected him with the Riise debate, plus the man has only been here a season it's a bit early to write him off .:(

hehehe...
it's better present Riise as left back/winger and carra will flew away to right side and replace finnan.

so that's why i connect riise and finnan becoz carra is a mutiple posses player on the defensive side as well as riise.

my 1st eleven:-

                           Kirkland

    Carragher   Henchoz   Hyypia   Riise

                          Gerrard

          Murphy                    Kewell

                           Diouf

               Owen              Cisse

He's one of the good signings, keep him.

news update:

John Arne Riise is looking forward to stepping up a gear in the pre-season programme as the Reds prepare for their three match tour of America and Canada.  The Liverpool party fly out to the States tomorrow morning ahead of games against Celtic, Porto and Roma, and the Norwegian star says each match will provide the squad with a stern test as they continue their preparations for the new season.
Riise said: "It's good that we're going away for a while because that will help with the team bonding and team togetherness. With a new manager and new staff at the club I think it's important we go away and spend time getting to know each other.
"The games we have lined up are all against good teams as well so they'll be good tests for us. We'll be able to see where we are in terms of our preparations for the season.
"Celtic, Porto and Roma are all top quality sides and I personally can't wait for the games. Training and getting fit is what pre-season is all about, but playing matches is the most enjoyable part of it. I'm sure we'll all get a chance to show what we can do over there and it's up to us to stake our claim for a place in the team on the first day of the season."

Definitely a keeper. Not many left back can run up and down like him in the premiership. Ashley Cole is one and I think Riise has the potential to become another.
