riise is quality carnt think of  a better left back in the premiership maybe bridge but thats bout it i couldnt understnad why GH played carragher there whens he right footed and therefore and to come inside whereas riise is naturally left footed and can go down the line and whip some crosses in plus the fact hes got such a great shot when he uses it, hes quick and can score with his head lol remmeber his gr8 headed past dudek against man u was it quality lol and i carnt even believe you are asking if he should start or whatever theres no question the guys class

I can't believe what i am reading, riise is garbage. I'd rather have Djimi Traore playing left back than this joker. His first touch is poor and his defensive skills are weak- he made Jermaine Penant look like Luis Figo at Anfield last year. I can't bear the fact that this season i am going to have to put up with this waste of space and his hopeless long balls again.

Get him sold!!!!! Thats if anyone would want him

Riise is our only true left back (perhaps Traore), so unless we are getting Roberto Carlos i think we should defo keep him.

Its this simple riise is not good enough for this club, okay he has a good engine and gets forward but this man has no footballing brain. Hopefully rafa will see the light and realise that we are in dire need of a new left back soon (and right back coz steve finnan is ****** too). Just look at all the goals we have conceded over the past few seasons and see how many riise was at fault for. Im not the type of person that usually slags of my own players but with riise it's impossible not to, as long as he is playing left back we will never win the title!!!

Excuse me?

He was a regular in a side that gained 80 points, scoring 8 goals with the best defensive record in the league and with players likeMurphy, Heskey and Smicer all as regulars...

Infact if you look at that team at that time the only players that stood out were Owen, Hyypia and sometimes Anelka and Gerrard. Gerrard was nowhere near the level he's at now, Hyypia has improved as a player every season since he's been here.

Lad, you're talking ******. Houllier failed to get the best out of Riise and if you can't see his obvious talent just because he was employed in a very average side then that shows a lack of knowledge on the subject. The lad has good ability. End of story.

agree! Risse is very good..on the way to becoming another Carlos  :)
some of the guys here realy have weird viewpoints on players and tactics that make me wonder if they play soccer or have sound knowledge of soccer at all!! But then everyone is entitled to his/her opinion ans so is mine of some of the lads here.

I wouldn't say he'll be as good as Carlos ???

Thats far fetched, Carlos is world class.

Riise is at least two levels off that. Good player he is though.

Yeah, Id keep him, but play him left midfield and not left back, , as wthe times ive seen him left back he just used to whack it 60 yards down the pitch with not much thought beforehand about what he was doing. dont know where id stick kewell then though, maybe behind the front 2

Where you or where you not one of these people who slagged Houllier for playing players out of position?

Riise, IS A LEFT BACK.

Kewell, IS A LEFT WINGER.

Play players in there natural position. Riise doesn't have the skill, technique, flair, acceleration, crossing ability, vision or intelligence to play left wing consistently.

I wasnt one of those people that criticised houliier for playing people out of position actually, i never once said that.

Well if Kewell is a left winger, why did he in every match half way through the half swap with diouf and play on the right side?

Risse ceretainly does have crossing ability and acceleration, are we talking about the same player?

Riise has flatout pace, not acceleration and his crossing is erratic at best.

He doesn't have the skill to play in midfield and playing players in stupid positions in stupid formations doesn't win you league titles.

Sorry Mr Tactician

Why dont you give Benitez a ring and give him your opinions?

Im sure you can tell him what wins the league and what doesnt!

Know it all !
