Can neevr be classed as a legend - was a very good left back for us but reached a level but never really kicked on to become excellent .

iv'e said it before on another topic & will say it again, the goals he scored against the the blue shyte & manure will be right at the top of my best memories list! {the goal he scored at the pit,you had to be there to really know what i'm on about} the free kick against manure is still talked about with emotion, even to this day. for me cult player who scored legendry goals!!

Definite cult hero.

Steady left back but scored both some fantastic and important goals for us.

Volley v Chelsea in CC final
Free kick v Chelsea in FA cup final
THAT free kick v United
Goal v Everton 2001
Goal v Arsenal in 1-1 (around 2002/2003 - not sure)
Long ranger v PSV in CL
Long ranger v Portsmouth in cup
Goal v Barce at the nou camp

There were many more.

Unfortunately the time was right for him to move on.  The goals dried up and he looked to be in decline.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone hit a football as hard as the free kick he scored against Man U. It was a brutal example of how to simply smash the ball as hard as you can. As well as his goals, he also effectively finished the career of Alan Smith as the blond haired aggressor was crazy enough to go for a block on one of his thunderbolts. I'm not holding that up as some sort of trophy, not celebrating Smith's demise, but it just shows you the power in his left foot.
