Riise left us this summer to Roma ending a 7 year association with us and played over 347 games and scored 31 goals, most of them are really important.

What do you think? with his goals, his appearances and solidity deserve to be up there with anfield's great defenders? or merely a great servant for the club who won many of our hearts with some absolutely stunning and important goals throughout his career with us?

Discuss.

Great servant in my book but wouldn't class him as a cult hero.

He was a great servant , one of the unknowns when GH brought him in . No one ever heard of him and he stamped his mark with a cracking freekick against manure . Very versatile player , one of the most consistent , rarely injured and a great player to have in the squad . I'd still take him as our best left back in the last few years

He was decent, gave us some great goals and special memories but he is never anywhere near one of our best ever defenders that's  silly. I'll remember him and his screamers fondly though

It was always gonna be cult hero. If he did nothing but score that free kick against Man Utd, he still would have the cult hero status in my book.

Hehe JAR. He could farking thump the ball hard. When on target it was beautiful to behold.

He had his limitations, but I always liked him.

He was a tough nut. I remember him shrugging off some pretty vicous tackles and ignoring provocation. Hell he wasn't even worried when Bellamy went at him with a 4 iron.

Great Servant, wish him all the best.

I always liked Riise, he always gave 100% always looked like he wanted to do his best and didn't hide even when things were going wrong for him. I think he allowed off the field problems to affect him badly the last couple of years, but he was never as bad as some made out. He was a little limited both as a defender and as a left midfielder , but was a great squad player and I was sad to see him go. Cult hero.

I'm incredibly tempted to say legend lol. Sure he had his weaknesses but one heck of a versatile player who gave his best in the big matches. One of GH's best signings.

Made so much money from him, when he first joined and he was 33s 1st goal or 25s and no one realised he was nipping up the wing and scoring.

cult hero

I havent voted as there's no other option . Not a legend , not a cult hero and not a waste of space . Just a steady player who did well for us , one of hundreds of LFC players that have done the same .

Compared to what we've got a LB at the moment he looks like a world beater.
He always seemed to suffer from being played at left back when he would most definitely have prospered as a wing back.

He will always be remembered in LFC folklore for that goal against the Mancs but in an ironic way I think that goal was a bit of a millstone around his neck, certainly in his last couple of seasons. Too many times he tried to recreate it and even better it to no avail.
