It's the same thing . Get one of the key player out ... half of the battle won . Remember with Man U match ... They won the match because they get rid of SG ... So do Chelsea ... They won the match because they get rid Alonso plus they have ref on their side . I think FA should change the rules of the game.

Even without Alonso we played better than them. The refs this season have cost us at least 12 points. This is getting tiredsome.

Garcia was always accused of being inconsistant when he was at Barca :(

Give him time and he'll spring back to form just like I'm sure Josemi will :)

man this pisses me off, we got ****** robbed by the blue nose gangsters and the autistic ref.  I may actually make a thread and highlight all the errors in officiating that cost us points. It started from day one.

Chelski robbed us off 3 points and Maurinho knows it. We are the better team with a better manager (and a better player in Gerrard too!). They only got Abrahmovic (and a new signing, Mike Riley and I thought the transfer window has not open yet?). It will be interesting to hear what the self proclaimed "special one" got to say after being outplayed?

I was gutted at this result but I am also delighted to see that we are at the dawn of a new bright era under Rafa. Keep your chin up guys!

i can't say that i'm surprised with the result. chelsea seem destined to win the league. they've been sh#te in their last 3 games but still won all of them and kept clean sheets. when you're at the top and things are going for you, those deflected goals always go in your favour.

we can harp on about the blatant penalty that wasn't given all we want but it happens. it just reaffirms to me that we need video technology in football sooner rather than later because referees seem to be getting more wrong than they get right these days.

the fact is, despite our domination in terms of territory and possession of the ball, i think cech had to make one save of note in the entire match. we still flatter to deceive in the last third of the pitch. garcia has to be the most frustrating footballer i've seen for a while. he shows some great touches but his basic ball retention is woeful. the need for a top class target man and goalscorer is also evident.

on the plus side, i thought hamann was immense and proved why he deserves a new contract at the club. riise, gerrard and carragher were also very good. however, until we find that cutting edge we are always going to be that little bit short.

Yes, yes and yes (in that order)!

Nothing has been said about his injury, personally I think he just picked up a bad knock.

RAFA RUES ALONSO INJURY

lLiverpool boss Rafa Benitez was disappointed to lose Xabi Alonso through injury in his side's defeat to Chelsea.

The Spanish midfielder picked up the injury in a tackle with Frank Lampard and was forced off after 26 minutes.

Benitez bemoaned his side's luck with injuries with Alonso set to be out of action for up to six weeks.

"Unfortunately we have lost Xabi for five to six weeks and it is a big blow for us," said Benitez.

Benitez refused to reveal whether or not the injury may force him to bring in a new midfielder in the transfer window.

"We will see. At this moment I am only concentrating on the next game which is Norwich," added Benitez.

"We have a good squad so we have players who can come into midfield."
