Boro make heskey enquiry...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Sky Sports reckon McLaren has made enquiries about Heskey, I for one would not like to see him leave although I suspect I may be in a minority.

If I were a Heskey-basher I would probably contemplate with some amusement the potental forward line of Rickets and Heskey.....!!!  :D

I can see the commentary now:

'And Heskey makes another Rickett.'

I know i'll get stick for this but i would be gutted if Emile left Liverpool as i still believe he has what it takes to be a quality striker. I also believe that Houllier has battered his confidence by playing him out of position too much!

what makes me sick is that everyone classes heskey as a donkey because he dont score enough i think he is one of the best forwards in english football ok he's not a prelific goal scorer but look how many goals he sets up youve only got to  look at him now hes finding his feet banging in the goals when needed to get us out of the rook were in while owen is injured.
it would be a big mistake to sell him as we have none to fall back on.

At least we seem to have found a midfielder, a second scorer to match Scholes' output for manure and Pires/Ljungberg. Kewell has scored some goals this season but we are badly lacking goals in Owen's absence. With 19 league goals we still only managed fifth. I hope Kewell's free kick and penalty winning potential hasn't been reduced by Rodrigues' comments, refs can be swayed by "reputations"

Of all the teams I never thought of Boro.  Ricket and heskey could be twins they're both big lumps of lard difference is emile likes to roll about the ground quite a bit.  My goodness  McClareon must be on the same tablets as Houlier!

Granted Heskey isn't my favourite Red but when he looks like our best player (v Yeovil) doesn't this scare anyone? It makes me realise just how shocking we are at the moment!

Had Heskey put in the same performance vs manu or Arsenal or Cheslki then I'd be astonished but why is everyone making a fuss about a single goal against a team in the 3rd division?

Because for all Heskey's faults he put in a performance when it mattered and turned the game around for a Liverpool result. Against Yeovil yes but results matter, performances can be improved. Chamone. Muthaf*cka:)

Now against Chelsea aswell.

I hope this kicks him into gear and we start to see the old Heskey again... that would improve the team immensely.

I think emile has to show more confidence in his own ability, last night he put in a excellent performance but even still in his interview after the match he looked as if he didnt believe he had played well. I think emile should try and look at a few ian wright video's and try and capture some of the arrogance and confidence. Even closer to home he could look at his strike partner M owen

I thought Emile had a great game last night, two on the trot.  All he needs if confidence.  i think that houlliers best pairing upfront is Heskey and Owen and with Gerrard, Hamman and Kewall supporting from midfield we have on paper a decent team.  I think we need another quality midfielder though, but maybe (just maybe) Cheyrou could do the job.

I'll sit here and wait for the stick now for that!

Yeah, Heskey showed glimpses of what he is capable of last night.

I maintain that when Heskey was at Leiciester he showed great potential. He once got a hattrick away to Newcastle and was simply sensational.

He was very good for us for about 4 months in the 2001 season, before going off the boil. At times he was unmarkable in Europe, and he was as big a reason as anybody in winning the UEFA Cup.

However, he's his own worst enemy in that he's probably too shy and nice a guy to be a professional footballer. I think that in order to be an excellent forward you need either arrogance (like Ian Wright, Kewell, Viduka, RVN, Henry, Mutu etc) or tremendous self belief (Gary Lineker, Ian Rush, Michael Owen).

Unfortunately Heskey has neither.
