Liverpool Football Club - Games

Feels daft to be starting a thread about a poxy preseason friendly in feckin' Tennessee
But.
Curious to see this Wright young fella.
And N'Diaye.
Nice to see Elliott back...
It's a nothing game, purely for the money.
But it's LFC !

Game'a barely started and Gomez is already off injured. A CB is a must in this window, as is a new forward.

Morrison 1-0, decent team goal tbh (although weak defending by them)

Very weak defending, and against the run of play to be fair

1-1 HT, not a bad half considering we have players that have never played a senior game for us and the rest are mostly fringe players, while Sunderland had half of their main 11 starting.

Probably we'll see a different 11 for the second half.

We win 4-2. Decent game actually. I know it's just pre-season but we looked really energetic, made lots of forward runs etc. which is what everyone thought we lacked last season. And we were up against a PL team that made Europe last season. So good early signs that we'll hopefully see in competitive games as well once they start.

We where much better in the 2nd after the changes. A few good performances in there from the young lads. Nyoni has to get more minutes this year.

We hunted the ball down much quicker and weren't faffing around in front of goal. Good start for Iraola  :buttrock

I thought Ndudweke and Morrison did well in the 1st half. In the 2nd it was Nyoni, Scanlon and Koumas but imo only Nyoni and possibly Ndudweke have a chance of minutes this season. All gave it a go trying to impress the manager but most are a way off. A few games to go so maybe a few might change that opinion.

We really need to offload Elliot. Think he made one decent run in that game. Would have expected him to shine among the kids but he still looks like he should be in the under 21's .

Gomez is just a disaster. No reports on exactly what the issue is but dont think anyone is surprised he's picked up something. I really dont know why we stick with certain players and expect different just because we have a new manager..

I saw video of the boys training and noticed Elliot had his knee in a brace. That injury will never heal 100% and as brutal as it is to get rid of a player because he got injured, football is a brutal business. Seeing the brace reminded me of his terrible injury and that it is something that will never go away, just managed. If he was tearing it up in training at Aston Villa they would have played him regardless of what the contract said.
