Middlesborough game - Absolute sh*te

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby 112-1077774096 » Sat Nov 20, 2004 6:09 pm

just watched the game live on tv, absolute garbage. i dont understand why we would have two forwards sat on the bench while we put two midfielders up front. anyway its the defence who failed to turn up today, i was embarrassd watching this sh*te.

i know all the diehards will slag me off, but as a lifelong liverpoool supporter i am having my say, i still love the club but i am so annoyed that we cant even beat middlesborough, birmingham, and we scraped past palace.

its not good enough, just drop kewell until he is prepared to perform, play players in position, get some urgency and pride into the club. we should not be losing these games even with a lack of forwards

The "offside" goal was good, it was the linesman who made the mistake, although in fairness to him his view of it was blocked.

The worst Liverpool performance I have seen in a long, long time.

Hyppia was appalling. He looked like a pub player out there.

The only guy who had a middling game was Carragher, and Finnan and Josemi were the pick out of the rest.

Xabi Alonso was a disgrace at times.....as for Kewelll......

You lot didn't have an outlet because Cisse and Baros were out, highlighting your lack of options in that area when the first choice pairing are out.

Middlesbrough controlled midfield.

You only had one shot on target I think.

You missed a couple of decent chances though.

It's to be expected without Baros & Cisse.

Deserved win for Boro though, who are looking quite classy at the moment.

It wasn't up front where we lost the game but in midfield. Kewell and Garcia cannot win headers in the air and won't chase balls into the corner like Cisse and Baros. They need quality ball delivered to feet and support from midfield.

Alonso strolled around the pitch and sloppily gave the ball away, Riise's mind was elsewhere, Finnan tried his best but he's not a midfielder, and only Hamman in the first half tried to compete but Benitez blundered by taking him off and not Alonso.

Carragher did reasnonably well and Josemi handled Downing ok in the first half, but Hyppia had the worst game I have ever seen him play. His game is patently unsuited to Benitez's new Liverpool.

Traore was appalling in the first half, goiving the ball away and was ball watching for Riggott's goal.

Biscan and Pongolle looked bemused and disinterested when they came on.

A totally unacceptable, unprofessional and lacklustre performance and many of the players today are a disgrace to the shirt.

we stink and thats that. we will not get better til we learn to pass the ball and keep the ball, also how to shoot.
i know i took a lot of stick at the start of the season for say that this was going to be a bad year and that we had a poor team but i think it is still true

agreed. we were rubbish. but i don't think hyppia or alonso were so bad - at least not the worst. alonso came back and won a lot of ball - even though maybe he'd lost it in the first place. hyppia was ok most of the game i thought, but obviously the fact that i wasn't actually there means i missed stuff.

the culprits - again - were kewell and josemi. and benitez. why why why didn't he start with a bloody proper striker???

That's it Hyypia. Get out of the team NOW. You are a horrible player. I am sick of your lack of pace, your poor positioning and your miserable passing. And Kewell? 65 grands a week. You are the most overpaid player in international football. You are not good enough for Milton Keynes Dons. Liverpool should hire a hitman to end your days. You cost us 3,5 million pounds in wages every year. That is a complete waste of money. You ain't fit to wear the red shirt. When will managment introduce more performance related pay packages? Kewell getting twice the amount of Xabi Alonso is a complete joke, bad for morale, bad for the fans. We never threathned Boro, they had us from the start til' the end. Houllier's mess is a hell of a job to clean up. I am happy we have the best manager in England, that is at least a big relief and a guarantee for success in the long term. I fear a hammering in Monaco, they are a much better team than Boro. Henchoz must be a better player than Hyypia right now? And please drop Kewell, he is a disgrace, I rather have Dudek as a striker.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

Yes Hyppia won some headers and tackles but in crucial periods of the game he was awful. Hasseilbank turned him at will and Mark Viduka (hardly the most mobile of player) dragged Hyppia all over the place.

Alonso looked disinterested and his passing was suicidal at times: what was he thinking in giving the ball straight to Downing for their second goal?

Didn't see any of it or hear any reports, but it's not that surprising a result to be fair. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are going to get these results from time to time, particularly when we have our current injury situation. They are a good side and will definately challenge for the fourth spot which we covet. Away from home they are a tough nut to crack and maybe one day we will get an offside decision go in our favour, that would be nice.
Like I posted on the tactics thread, it's going to be a tough few weeks and blindly saying 'we are liverpool and we are going to march on despite our injury problems' is dillusional nonsense. At least we now know how hard its gonna be and can move forward. I know it hurts lads but we'll come good I'm sure of it.

Kewell and Garcia showed no interest whatsoever in passing to each other, both players were only interested in doing their own thing.

Kewell looks 20% of the fitness and attitude levels required for the Premiership: the amount of times he got caught in possession in the first half was criminal.
