I think he has enough about him at 19 to think he is worth investing in. He is big, has good technical ability and a decent engine. He will surely improve considering his age  and will only get stronger as he gains muscle. He is not wispy as Own was at 19, he is not “chubby” as Rooney was at the same age, he has the body type that will improve with age, especially for a midfielder. He got injured last season and I think it affected his performances but as the season went on he played better. Problem for him is he is more an attacking midfielder than a defensive midfielder and we have a number of those. I cannot see him playing the Fabinho role.

That said, he will probably be included in the England squad and a main stay in the team. I think he will stay and not a candidate for going on loan this summer.

He's almost 23 Kazza. Made his debut back in 2018 I think it was.  Injuries probably have held him back and I'm not saying he's a bad player either, just not, imo good enough for this level. Rooney, Owen etc where established internationals where as Jones isn't and more than likely his next tournament will be with the U23's.

I don't think we will loan him anyway as the squad is starting to look a bit thin and especially if Hendo goes.

We put far to much faith in young lads at to young of an age. There is a lot of growing and maturing to do from 17/18 to the early 20's. I think Jones has a different build than Owen or Rooney and has good agility but just not the presence to have any sort of an impact like they had.

Elliot is another we are bigging up to the last and he is not good enough either. He's well experienced with us as a senior player but was mostly a sub in that tournament. He's put on a lot of weight and now resembles a mini shaq, he's got no pace and no presence on the ball. Still a skilful lad but lacking the other attributes to be a top drawer player imo.

Jones did nothing for me when he was on the pitch today. Far too careless and slow

He had a lot of injuries last season. But it's make or break for him this year. Hopefully he fulfills his potential.

Genuine question, what does this guy bring to the club.

He was dreadful today. And awful for much of last season.

I get we want local lads in the squad, but this guy isn’t good enough for a team with our aspirations.

He has only played 15 mins this season

Was excellent last season until he got that injury , got him back fit again during pre season  but then another niggle

Very talented but needs to develop better game management

But more than good enough to be in the squad

He's homegrown. EXTREMELY important....

Apparently we've agreed a deal with Notthingham Forest for his sale. With Forest getting a lot of money for Elliot Anderson, I hope we manage to negotiate a decent fee for Curtis.

With him gone though we would need a new midfielder.

i'll be sad to see him go actually, i'm not saying i'd have him in my best XI but you need more than XI players to win the league and to be fair to the lad although he's got nearly man written all over him he's got a good engine on him, he's got good feet, he puts a shift in, can fill in in many positions and he even chips in with the odd goal here and there.
His main fault to me is that he holds onto the ball too long and because of that can get caught in possession, btw there's nothing wrong with him holding onto the ball if he's making a driving run up the pitch, thats another string he's got to his bow, he can run with the ball and go past a man but he holds onto it too long when he doesnt need to, when one or two touches would be the better option.
It's obvious why he holds onto the ball its because he's trying to show everyone how good he is on the ball but it isnt the schoolyard and footy fans are more sophisticated than that, back in the 70's and 80's we had players who worked incredibly hard and moved the ball quickly, they were one or two touch players but they didnt go sideways and backwards and didnt give the ball away. To be a player of few touches but not give the ball away or play safe is an incredibly difficult thing to be. There's nothing worse in football than a player who constantly gives the ball away and thats why those players were so good, they didnt play it safe, they didnt take many touches and they didnt give it away. I think Curtis could be one of those players he just thinks Cruyff turns and step overs make you a good player.
I hope this deal falls through i dont want him to go. I think there's a very good player in there if he's pointed in the right direction, he's skillful and he works hard and if he starts playing footy with his brain instead of his feet i think he can be a terrific player.
